What word is spelt the same way in nine languages: English, French, Danish, Dutch, German, Swedish, Spanish, Norwegian, and Portuguese?

Question #10084. Asked by Prestage. (Feb 02 01 9:28 AM)

    l3i7l

RADIO is the same in at least 20 different languages. Want some more fun? Check out the capitalized words in the next sentence. In how many countries could you take your AUTOMATIC AUTOMOBILE to the CAFE or CABARET, next to the BANK, and order a BANANA, some CHOCOLATE, a BEER or some COFFEE? The spellings may not be exact, but I bet you would be understood.

TAXI - is the same and means the same in all those languagues. Whereas some of the examples given above are English imports used instead of the native language to attract anglophones. They have local terms, e.g in French voiture for an automobile; sexe for sex and automatique for automatic. Automobile is hardly even used in England, they use car. TAXI is French, Danish, Dutch ... etc. for TAXI.

l3i7l could be right with RADIO though.

What 4 letter (non rude) word is spelt the same in English, French, Portuguese, Swedish and German?

I have been listening to some German music trying to read the lyrics along with it, is there a general rule for when you should roll the R's, or can it always be rolled, also how come German, Spanish, French, all have rolling of the R's, but English doesn't, it makes it much harder for English speakers to speak those other languages fluently?

French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian are called "Romance languages" because: they sound very beautiful, the greatest love poetry is written in these languages, they are based on Latin the language of Rome, or the writers on the Romantic Movement used these languages?
