The Bible. The defining book for Judeo-Christianity.
The Jewish Bible, or the Christian Old Testament, consists of three sections, Torah, Nevi'im (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings). The Torah was traditionally said to have been given to Moses upon Mount Sinai and provides the basis for Jewish traditional laws and rules - the Halakha. The Prophets tell of the creation of a Kingdom of Israel, the splitting of it, all the tearing asunder and exile of the Jewish people. The Writings are a collection of poetry and prose that are attributed to many people.
The New Testament is the basis for all Christian belief. Here we learn the stories of Jesus Christ and his disciples. These tell all about the teachings and life of Jesus, his death, and his resurrection. Through stories, letters and accounts we find the basis of the belief that Jesus was the Messiah.
