12 - 5 separate pieces in the stumps at each wicket, and two bats. Batsmen are on the field of play in pairs.

To clarify - 2 sets of stumps, each with 3 uprights and 2 bails make the 10 pieces.

As many as you want to make it. The ball is made of cork and the umpires may well be carrying pencils to keep their records.
