Marni Nixon sang the voice of Maria for Natalie Wood(uncredited) in West Side Story (1961) and then acted (and sang, of course!) as Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music (1965).

I feel sure Julie Andrews wasnt in West Side Story I assume the confusion is that she sung 'I Feel Pretty (From 'West Side Story'.

Marni Nixon

The singing voice for Natalie Wood as Maria in West Side Story (1961).

Nixon finally appeared on screen singing for herself as Sister Sophia in the film The Sound of Music.

Marni Nixon, who provided the singing voice for Natalie Wood in West Side Story and Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music. She also provided the singing voice for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady and, I believe, Deborah Kerr in The King and I.
