    What is the address of Fawlty Towers from the early BBC TV show with John Cleese in Tougay?

    It is in Torquay, the Gleneagles hotel is what the series was based on, although the series wasn't filmed there.

    Its street address was "16 Elwood Avenue". There is no such steet in the real Torquay. It was mentioned in one episode and I remember it well because it is very similar to the street address of my house. The exterior shots of the hotel where they showed the sign with the jumbled letters were of a hotel in Buckinghamshire that burnt down in '91.
