Quite possibly the largest match in Turkey, the two teams are rivals Fenerbahçe SK and Galatasaray SK. They are two of the biggest clubs in Turkey and account for over half of the Turkish championships for the 21st century.
The derby is known as "intercontinental" because Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are two of the major Turkish teams from the Asian and the European parts of Istanbul respectively.
