What does the long-tailed grass lizard use its long tail for?

That is one long tail! The tail length is more than three times that of the body. Its purpose, as with many other animals, is to help secure and balance them as they traverse blades of grass. Unlike many other animals, these lizards can also drop their tails when attacked (caudal autonomy), later growing a replacement.
