"Hinemoa" (1914) is thought to be the first feature film produced in New Zealand.
The silent film retold the Maori legend of the young lovers Hinemoa and Tutanekai. Unfortunately, it would appear that no copies of the film have survived.
The film was directed by George Tarr and ran for 42 minutes.
