    Which is the southernmost state: Texas, Lousianna, Hawaii, or Florida?

    Have found the longitudes of the various state capitals ....

    Tallahassee Florida, 30.457N
    Baton Rouge, Luoisiana, 30.448N
    Austin, Texas 30.305N
    Honolulu, Hawaii 25.002N

    Tallahasse is in the north of Florida of course, but Florida is definitely nowhere near 5 degrees from south to north :-)

    Why do many American colleges have 'State' as part of their title as well as having a similarly named college, for example, Florida and Florida State?

    Many years ago someone told me that Texas is the only state that has a town named after each of the eight planets, excluding Earth. I have only found two in Texas, Jupiter and Mars.
