Why is £15 sometimes known as a Commodore?

It's a rather obscure type of rhyming slang. The Commodores had a hit with 'Three times a Lady", and the rhyming slang used in this instance is 'Lady Godiva' which rhymes with 'fiver', ie, £5. Three times £5 = £15, hence a 'commodore'!

Yay, Picqero! It is used in tic-tac (which was also involved in the answer to my 33 question which has been removed).
