    How many squares are in an 8x8 checkerboard? The answer is not 64!

    		There are 64 (8 squared) 1x1 squares, 49 (7 squared) 2x2 squares, 36 3x3's, 25 4x4's, 16 5x5's, 9 6x6's, 4 7x7's and one 8x8, for a total of 204.
