Just as a matter of interest, I lived in that area (on the coast) for nearly twenty years.

The Desert of Tabernas is one tenth of the size of the Sahara Desert.

I'm sorry but this says that it is the Bledowska Desert in Poland:
Other important nearby locations include the Bledowska Desert, perhaps the only true desert in Europe...
http://www.iexplore.com/dmap/Poland/Where+to+Go
skysmom's site refers to Tabernas as a "semi-desert".

I do now see that zbeck's site does call Tabernas Europe's only true desert province.
Perhaps some of our site's master researchers could help to clear the confusion please.

Bledowska Desert was created as an accidental byproduct of urbanization in that area and is not a naturally formed desert, THUS, would probably not be considered a "real" desert. In the recent years the desert has started to shrink.
