False, but there was no 'final settlement' (peace treaty) between the Allies and Germany till 12 September 1990.

This site gives the end as 31st Dec 1946, when President Truman officially proclaimed the end of WW II.

WWII is considered to have begun on September 1, 1939 and ended on September 2, 1945.
