Why does the expression 'eight days a week' come from and what is the meaning of it?

Usual tendency of languages to be emotional, to exaggerate rather than to be strictly logical. Beatle-song does same as Shakespeare when coining the phrase "for ever and a day". Logically there are only seven days in a week and for ever is for ever. But emotionally ..Emotions are a very different thing than logics. http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/140900.html
