The shortened season of the National Hockey League got underway today. Glad to see my Blues handing it to the Red Wings!

It's great when any team gets over on the Red Wings! I'm in Colorado & love my Av's team.

Terrible game for the Blues tonight against the Red Wings - the officials called the game like they had money bet on Detroit.

The Karlsson injury from Cooke was ugly and the skate had no need to be up at that point.

Blues take on the Blackhawks at Scott Trade tonight; that unbeaten streak is gonna end!

The Blackhawks have been incredible this season.

Also, all four eastern Canadian teams are in the playoffs right now. I'm hoping that the Leafs will keep in the top 8!

My Buffalo Sabres are up and down.

Happily, then won their last three.

The A - D reallignment, are you kidding me, that is really the best they could do, it looks like they took the 8 most Easterly teams and made that a division, then the next 8 most until they hit the West coast.

Hawks and Red Wings in different divisions?

Bx, if you look at the current alignment, Detroit and Toronto, and Columbus and Pittsburgh, were not in the same conference.

There has been outcry because there is now 16 teams in the East and 14 in the West, and how that affects a team's postseason chances. They neglect to mention how the MLB has operated like that for the many seasons, until now.

I think it's odd how the three Canadian markets are in a division with the two Florida teams. Because, after all, nothing puts behinds in the Florida seats than Canadian snowbirds. Bettman will be Bettman.

Exactly, they fixed some of the East/West issues, but created North/South ones.

They needed to tweak, and they over did it I think.

Realignment also comes with relocation and the Phoenix debacle. With eight teams in the east, Quebec City and Toronto are no longer viable options for the Coyotes without another dose of realignment. Kansas City would require a shift to Division C, but Colorado can move west no problem. Seattle wouldn't mean any relocation for the other teams, as Phoenix is in the Far West Division already.

Of course the Seattle-Coyotes deal rests on the Seattle-Sacramento Kings dealings first. Seattle will get both or neither.

The Black Hawks just won one of the best Stanley Cups I've ever seen (since my Islanders won 4 in a row from 1980-84).
It was made even better by the best announcer to ever cover the NHL, Mike "Doc" Emerick.

2 goals in 18 seconds of the last minute of play, WOW!

Bill Buckner and Ralph Branca have been relieved of their all-time "choker" labels.

I don't think it's as bad as Buckner, as you can't put the blame on Rask for those goals. The tying goal was a mad scramble, and the winning goal came when the defence was on lunch.

At least the Bruins now know how the Leafs feel.

Hats off the NHL for getting the Olympics question wrapped up and allowing the players to be in the Olympics next year.

At the same time, please someone talk some sense to Bettman and allow a single exception to the East to West rule to switch Predators to the Atlantic Division and move the Red Wings to the Central Division with the Blackhawks.

Ideally I would like to see Flames, Oilers and the Red Wings in that Central Division, which would require moving the Stars and Avalanche to the Pacific Division, along with the Nashville to the Atlantic.
