Subject: Points Awarded for Quiz Creation

After many months of deliberations with the editors and careful considerations, we have decided that we will be awarding points for the authoring of quizzes.

In the old days players didn't have points or levels to think about or consider. No one ever had to make the decision of "do I climb the ladder, or do I write a quiz?", "Do I play the hourly game, or do I write a quiz?". We don't believe that such a decision should have to be made. You should be able to write a quiz and earn a fair number of points from doing it. No one who WANTS to write a quiz should be discouraged from doing so because they will earn no points doing so. The only reason people are earning points playing quizzes is that someone spent time making them!

While most of our authors don't care about points and would still write quizzes without them, we thought that it would be nice to somehow acknowledge the time that they spend crafting their quizzes.


Here are the details:

- Each author will earn points on quizzes he/she writes that are accepted and go online. A maximum of 5 per player within a 30 day sliding window earn points. You can write more than 5, but only 5 will earn points.

This will discourage the rapid submitting of sub-par quizzes and encourage authors to carefully consider their contributions. A very small number of our best authors who have shown through the years to be able to contribute quizzes with almost no editing required will be able to earn points on more than 5 quizzes per 30 day period.

- 2000 points will be awarded per quiz authored (to the max of 5 per 30 day period), regardless of the number of questions in the quiz. We do not want players creating filler or garbage questions just to create larger quizzes!

- Points awarded from quiz authoring will NOT go into daily totals, class total, endurance, brain, etc totals. They will get added directly on top of your total score.

- Authors marked with the editor "Green Warning Screen" that suggests that their prior submissions have been sub-par will receive half points until their quality of submissions improves. Again, we want to discourage poor submissions and offer an incentive for being more careful.

- Points for existing quizzes created over the last 9 years WILL be retroactive. Every quiz on the site will be back-awarded full points (regardless of green screen and when they went online). For some players, this will result in a considerable increase in total points and the associated levels. Congratulations to all authors, and thank you very much for your contributions over the years.

Quiz authoring is the lifeblood of FunTrivia, and we hope to see many more fine quiz creations in the years to come!
