Well they are named after a firecracker so it seems kinda fitting they burnt out too fast ;) It doesnt necessarily make you a dinosaur to have missed them as they weren't exactly the Beatles of the 90's or even close. I always thought they should have been a bigger deal in a "fair" universe.

As for my screen name, I often wish I had done something different. When I was registering for FT I wanted something relevant to the site's focus..and...there is a dumb little story/history behind "answerman" but, minus the context of the story it seemed a tad arrogant to me so I got the "brilliant" idea to run it backwards to take some of the edge off of that. Still, every time I get destroyed in some game I imagine a snarky wiseguy (or gal) on the other end saying "Hah!..you weren't the answerman today pal!!" ;)

Ha! Yeah, I see what you mean about not wanting to seem arrogant. I can also really relate to getting destroyed in games around here! :-p All these diehard braniacs that don't know when to stop learning. :-(

When I first joined up here, I knew I wanted my name to reflect that loud, obnoxious heavy metal, and I originally entered the arena as "metalmad". Well, not long at all after that, I upgraded to gold and things got all screwed up and out of control with me trying to get back into FT land, and I panicked and just created a new identity. I just simply wasn't clicking on the things that I should have been clicking on. Then I found out what a no-no it is to have two accounts going at the same time and I quickly explained my situation to the administrators and got that all smoothed out without any problems.

Anyway, I decided I wanted my new name to still be all metally, but this time I wanted it to relate to my favorite metal of all - the almighty Priest Beast. I started thinking album titles and I thought, what about their very first album, Rocka Rolla? I thought, yeah, that's it! That would be such a cool name! Nope, wrong answer! It had already been taken by someone who hasn't been around for many years. :-(

So then I thought, okay, how about my fave Priest album of all time - the holy, sacred Stained Class? Yeah, that would really be a boss name! Nope, try again! Already taken by someone who registered and then left permanently on the same day like a jillion years ago. :-(

Well, I guess the third time was the ol' charm and I was allowed to go with sadwings - short for Sad Wings of Destiny, Priest's second holy offering. One time this one girl asked me, "Why are you called sadwings? Are you sad?" Ha! God, I thought that was so amusing. I'm probably the biggest clown on this entire website! :-p I guess I can sometimes be a pretty windy little clown as well. Can't help myself there, I love to write and chat and just have a few laughs with people in the process. :-)

This wasn't my first name choice either, Kevin, but all the variations I really wanted were already taken. And the one I really, really wanted was "too long," although that doesn't seem to be a rule anymore. I think the limit was 12 characters at the time.

And none of those people who have the names I wanted don't play anymore, either.

I forgot about soundtracks in my list of perfect albums! I'm watching "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" right now, and this soundtrack is perfect!

"Somebody's Baby" -- Jackson Browne

"So Much In Love" -- Timothy B. Schmidt

"Love Rules" -- Don Henley

"Waffle Stomp" -- Joe Walsh

"Fast Times At Ridgemont High" -- Sammy Hagar

"Kashmir" -- Led Zeppelin

Wait... I kind of hate "So Much In Love" -- "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" comes off my perfect list. That's not the song I thought it was! And I love Timothy B. Schmidt. How did he write such a gooey song???

Yeah, and how did Styx ever come up with Mr. Roboto and how did Queen ever come up with Radio Ga Ga? :-(

And how did Steve Miller ever come up with Abra Cadabra when it obviously should have been Sabbra Cadabra?

Sabbra Sabbra cadabra
I wanna reach out and stab ya
Sabbra Sabbra cadabra
Sabbra cadabra...........

Abra Cadabra is pretty awful. I didn't believe that was Steve Miller for a long time.

There is a really old Fleetwood Mac song I couldn't believe was them, too, back when they changed band members almost constantly. I have almost every album on vinyl, and I can't remember what the song was, but it was so unlike them, in any iteration.

Brace for it... ready? I don't like Styx!

I think we talked about this. For about forever, I thought Styx, Air Supply and ... um? Who else? Maybe Rush? Were all the same band. Rush doesn't sound right, though. Who would it be? No, I do think it was Rush. I thought all of them were the same band, and I thought that band was Air Supply, and I hated every single song!

Only recently did I learn there were three bands I just did not like, all playing music that sounded the same to me.

I know, I know, you love Rush! All boys love Rush.

You have to admit, Air Supply is kind of terrible.

"I wanna reach out and grab ya!"

Yeah, everyone I have ever known thinks that Rush and Air Supply are the same band. NOT!

How can I top the concept of Rush and Air Supply being the same band? Hmm.....let's see.........Okay, did you know that Pat Boone invented King Diamond?

Know why the Ohio Players and the Oak Ridge Boys sound like they are the same band? Because they ARE the same band.

Elvis Costello IS Dave Mustaine.

Did you see the old footage of Woody Allen beating the living crap out of Chuck Norris on the Animal Planet channel last night? It happened right before Judas Priest opened up for the Butthole Surfers in Saudi Arabia.

Michael Landon financed every album that the Moody Blues ever did from the money he acquired from stealing babies and selling them on the black market - with a great deal of help from Donny and Marie Osmond.

After discovering Beethoven for the first time, Dr. John morphed into Kraftwerk. Bert Convey and Anita Bryant filmed it on their honeymoon, which is exactly why Poland and Tibet invaded St. Lucia more than 400 times.

This fires you up every time I say it!

Now, just add Styx to the mix, and you've got yourself one big old mess!

Wait, I thought Styx ARE Rush and Air Supply. Now I'm confused! :-(

When I left the wonderful state of Oregon and came back down to these parts, my friend gave me a few cassette tapes he no longer wanted, and one of them was some band called Ignorance. Can you imagine calling your band that? I need to Google them now that I think about it. That is just unreal.

I have thought up so many band names over the years, but one in particular really shows my truly assertive nature. Are you ready for this? Coming to your town LIVE, it's the deadliest rock and roll known to mankind. Get ready for........Don't Nobody Nebber Tell Kebbin! That's right, round up your friends and come on out to the Mosh Pit to experience the explosive stage presence of Don't Nobody Nebber Tell Kebbin LIVE!!

I just love it how they always stress the word "live" when talking about concerts or whatever. I mean, everything people ever do or see is done or seen live. If you go grocery shopping you are shopping LIVE. If you are eating at a restaurant you are eating there LIVE. The food is actually brought to you LIVE after someone cooked it and put it together LIVE. If you are sleeping, you are sleeping right there in your bed LIVE.

Even if you are listening to a studio recording, it was still recorded LIVE and mixed LIVE. Even every movie that was ever made is all actual footage of live people doing and saying things LIVE.

That reminds me, how's this for a movie title: Actual Footage. I mean, every second of the film is 100% guaranteed to be actual footage. Actual footage of live people doing and saying things LIVE. I just wish I could see live footage of Don't Nobody Ebber Tell Kebbin! :-)

I have another perfect album to add to my list, and probably more as I think about it, and let it kind of work in the back of my brain:

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" -- Elton John

Yeah, REGINALD, are ya? Don't you let the sun go down on me now, REGINALD. Definitely one of my all time fave Reggie tunes right there. That one and Levon and Tiny Dancer are like way up there. That cat is just phenomenal. Isn't it weird how a lot of gay people are often very creative and talented in the arts? It's like they kind of go hand in hand with each other sometimes.

You all are obviously much younger than I am.

My musical tastes go back to Big Band, then Swing, Doo Wop, with some old 'classic country western' thrown in with 'classic rock'. The accepted definition of 'classic' when referring to music is a time span that encompasses the past 25 years. For me that doesn't go back nearly far enough. My own personal opinion is that anything composed and performed after 1979 is junk.

From Glenn Miller to Nat King Cole to Frank Sinatra to Elvis Presley to Little Anthony and the Imperials to Hank Williams Sr. to Led to Iron Butterfly to Eagles to The Beatles and Stones and it all dies after Moody Blues.

Opinions are like _______es, every body has them. So please don't crucify me for having the temerity to post my musical tastes on a thread that appears to be open enough for them.

Thanks

P.S. If I was playing Major League Baseball today, my walkup song would be "In a Gadda da Vida." Feel free to U-Tube that one, to me the long version is pure platinum.

Thanks for the forum,
Mark

Although, looking back, I did enjoy The Clash. I suppose that technically they are post 1979 even though they formed just before that.

Mark, we love all kinds of music in here! All of it, every single piece... except, of course, Air Supply.

I'd like to meet the person who doesn't like "Inna Godda Da Vida," Baby! Iron Butterly rocks!

Ah, Reminiscing... Little River Band

"That's the way it began
We were hand-in-hand
Glenn Miller's band
Was better than before
We yelled and screamed for more

And the Porter tune (Night and Day)
Made us dance across the room
It ended all too soon
And on the way back home
I promised you'd never be alone

Hurry, don't be late
I can't hardly wait
I said to myself when we're old
We'll go dancing in the dark
Walking through the park
And reminiscing..."

I think my walk-up song would either be "Hair Of The Dog," just to put the fear of God into that pitcher, or "Another One Bites The Dust" -- same reason.
