The closing ceremony tonight will be full of British music - the ceremony director promises it will be a great party and I gather that NBC are going to broadcast it live so Mel, get ready to sing!

I went to the Olympics on Friday, if you saw the huge crowds in the Park that tiny dot in the corner wearing red, white, and blue was me! Of course, everyone else was wearing red, white and blue so that may not be much help, lol.

No, NBC did NOT air it live, but it was a great show!

Were you the red, white and vlue speck singing God Save the Queen?

Probably. :)
I'd put money on our Wonderbun knowing all 6 verses of the National anthem.

Why is this thread so popular?

Because we are truly wonderful people, callie-ross, and people flock to our thread. Or we talk a lot. You choose. ;)

Sorry about the duff NBC info, seems they streamed it live via the internet but you could only watch it if you had one of their packages anyway. I did see a comment from someone that he was now jealous of the Americans - as NBC had delayed everything they still had six hours of the Olympics to go. LOL, one way to look at it I suppose. ;D

callie, look at the date of the first post.
This thread is the equivalent of a group of mates sitting in the corner of the pub and having a chat, as they have been doing for years.
Sometimes months go by without a word, and sometimes the groupings change. Several Pirates are now Llamas for example.
It began because we were being foolish and flippant on another thread, now lost to antiquity, and so The Pirate Queen gave us a playspace to keep us out of trouble. :)

If NBC were going to broadcast the closing ceremonies live, London is 7 hours ahead of me. I missed it, but I've heard it was great, and it's DVR'd, so hooray!

I thought these Olympics were wonderful! You should be very proud hosts!

But sometimes we make our own mischief, but that's what's so fun about this thread!

Oh...Flopsy...you want a trampoline to hop on, especailly after the Olympics?

Thanks Mel, but I'm going to stick to the cycling. And the heptathlon. And the rowing, the running, the boxing, the sailing... I'll get back to you after Rio if I don't win anything, okay?

Are you planning on participating or betting flopsy?

Both! Helen Glover hadn't rowed before Beijing but she picked up an oar, and won a gold medal. Anthony Joshua hadn't boxed until after Beijing and he got a gold medal on the last day. If they can do it... ;D

Interesting discovery...my Blu-Ray player can play PAL videos...Region 0...so I can now buy Eurovision DVDs! Yeah!

Yay, Mel!

I am determined to learn all I can about Eurovision, so I can make at least an educated guess when a question comes up, as they do in almost every timed quiz I take.

I think I'm going to start watching Youtube videos of the winners. It will take awhile, but it can't hurt, and might help.

I'm going to find and take all the Eurovision quizzes I can, too, so I can learn. I need to LEARN! And I just don't know how to learn if I have no access to it!

LOL, thanks Elle - I'll bear that in mind next time someone invites a moose into the hoose. ;)

We've had so many comments on that 'poem' - I've no idea how to top it next year but I expect the Spirit of Rabbits Past, Present, and Lyrical will whisper something in my ear in due course. In the meantime, have a mince pie! And a very Happy New Year!

I have made a delicious batch of special mincepies. They have rum and walnuts and cherries in them. And more rum.
My family isn't keen...so I now have the problem of two dozen unwanted mincepies.
All to myself.
Happy New Year to faithful llamas and fickle pirates everywhere. Mincepie anyone?
