The Refugees are setting up some team vs. team challenges, just for fun. This is a place to record the results, and maybe some other chatter.

With 30 days played, the results are even: 15 wins each. There is one day left in March. Who will emerge the monthly champion?

This is a huge mess of categories not of my choosing. I don't know what happened, but I'll fix this when I get home from the doctor. I was talking to Wes and he might have gotten us confused with another team. We'll just have to play this until tomorrow. Sorry, I have no idea what happened.

I think I've figured it out. Every Sunday we should have a question pool drawn at random from the subjects I picked. It says one day a week, but I think I can do more. We'll see.

Here is why it's been so complicated. You find a specific category and place, or something to focus on, and type in the central subject word. Then, if they accept your category, you go to a smaller category, which takes you to an even smaller category. Then you pick ten subject from this mess, assign it a category, and this becomes your question pool from all the subcategories. As far as I can decipher, you can only do this once a week, but I'm not sure, so I thought we would give it through a couple of days to see what happens, if the questions change, etc. Bjarge, I've found humanities in a couple of places, but I've had to search for it, for there is no categories for humanities, which I thought strange. Be patient and I'll eventually find one we want. Trying to please everyone is difficult, and their desires are opposite ours, which actually is good because we can alternate days. I hope nobody minds if we suspend the tournament for a few days while I play with the categories. We'll still keep score, but if one team plays one set of games and the other plays another set, one team will be at a lost. Say next Saturday, we begin for real again. Is that ok with everyone?

Whatever you think best Eric...it may be just as easy to pick main categories and make them a bit harder. As you know, sub categories may only have a few questions allotted to them. But keep trying and I am sure you will work it out...what we have done in the past is have a vote...we list about a dozen categories and then ask each player to vote for their top five...allowing 5 points for top vote and down to one point for the bottome choice. Then a table is made to put everyones points in and a top seven categories can be found out this way. We have generally kept the two lowest scoring categories as 'floating' and then change them occasionally...in this case, monthly or even weekly. If you made a floating category on a tuesday then on thursday you can change it for the week after with it not affecting anyone because of time zones.
