Never been to Phoenix but my wife and I drove right by it on our way to Oregon from Texas. That was just a year before you were there. It was like it was this huge, beautiful green oasis out in the middle of an even bigger desert. Looks like I was wrong about Rockin' Rob being 69, he will only be 68. Thought he was born in '50 but it was '51, so maybe you guys are the same age, dude. Reply #1482. Aug 24 19, 1:16 PM |

You young child, you! :-p Just look at how many metal legends are older than you, Mark. I think Ozzy was born in '48, and I'm pretty sure the rest of Sabbath were born right around that time. Probably not a great deal of metal legends but tons of rock legends. Many of them still with their long hippy hair and smoking naughty things. Have you heard anything from Elle, Mark? I hope she is okay. Reply #1484. Aug 24 19, 9:19 PM |

Specially for Kev...….Rob Halford 68 today, 25th August Diamonds and Rust Acoustic, because I love this song and Halford does a great interpretation of it. https://youtu.be/6wGlbYpBQdQ. Reply #1487. Aug 25 19, 4:06 AM |

Thanks, rubytops. Yeah, that is a great song. I really like the way they did that one on Unleashed in the East, Priest's first live album. I might play that one over at the Bar and Grill later today. We've been having a Rob Halford weekend over there this weekend. I think pretty much everyone in town is over there right now. :-p Reply #1488. Aug 25 19, 5:38 AM |

Yes. I've watched the show. A full discussion of my watching of the show may be found in my blog Science Fiction Interpretations. Elle had previously commented that LOST had gone "off the rails" after the first season. At the time she made that comment (about two years ago, roughly?), I had not watched the show. But it was on Hulu, which I subscribe to, so I made an effort to watch it so that I could make my own assessment, which I did. You will notice my score was less than 900. Some details of the show obviously haven't stuck with me. My own personal assessment of LOST (as described in my blog) was a bit more positive than Elle's, though I wouldn't consider it one of my favorites. Honestly, despite its flaws, I would take the CW's The Flash over LOST any day. Reply #1491. Aug 28 19, 10:47 PM |

My appraisal of LOST, for anyone interested, may be found on page 12 of my blog, mostly in post #223. (June of last year, *after* I had watched the show.) Reply #1492. Aug 28 19, 11:05 PM |

We talked about LOST two YEARS ago, Brian? Wow, time flies. I still maintain it went completely off the rails on a crazy train, though. I'd like to see what I wrote, but I can imagine -- something to do with turning Sayid into an evil zombie, and having Claire running around with a dead raccoon on her head, right? I think the actual dead whatever it was was in her cradle for her baby, but whatever was going on with her hair sure did look like a dead raccoon! I loved LOST, mind you, except the last season and that whacked out ending, but those writers had zero idea where they were going with that and lied to Stephen King when he made them swear they had a plot, and an ending in mind. I don't think they expected their show to make it past the pilot. Want to talk about George R.R. Martin again and how contrite he now is about not finishing his books? I had a feeling it would come to this, but I also think it's too little, too late. I don't care what he does or does not write, I won't read anything by him again. Other than his many apologies all over the internet and in magazines. His excuses are also bizarre, and so is his whining about how unfair fame is. He can't go to his favorite bookstore anymore! Oh no, not that! Sure he could, if he would take off his "costume." Just removing that hat would probably do it. If he shaved his beard, he could probably leave everything else that makes him "him" alone. He's not really that remarkable. And uh-oh, I just remembered I'm in the "No Drama Blog" and have potentially just introduced "drama" to it. Sorry about that. If you want me to move it, Mark, or ask for it to be removed, let me know. I can't really "move it" on my own, but I could probably get it removed. Reply #1493. Aug 29 19, 5:50 AM |
