What small and stupid thing has recently gotten your goat?
Mine would be spell checks that never give you the right suggestion for what you want even though you only barely misspelled something.

Seeing multiple new threads started in a period of a few days that ask the same question already very recently answered in the other multiple new threads started for the same question - namely, how to get a target point value in point precision. Sorry, there's no going back to the old days where there was a game that was specifically designed so that people could easily score exactly one point without any thought on the matter. Today's small annoyance: completing the Buzzy Bee for (one of my four) difficult challenges. It changed topics three times without winners while I was trying to find the right quiz. For the most part, using our phones for everything has made life easier. But it's starting to be that there is often not a "no phone" option even, which can cause problems. Just got a survey emailed from our provincial health board, about providing health services to people with hearing loss. It's a well constructed survey, and they clearly used input a panel I was part of a couple of months ago. But there is no way to access it except through email. I know several people whose insight and opinions they need to hear, but who don't have email. And I just bought tickets to an event, that will be a birthday present for my daughter. Except there was no option to get physical tickets, I've just got them on my phone, which won't do her much good. There is probably a way to transfer the tickets from my phone to hers, but I'd really like to be able to put some actual physical tickets inside a birthday card, rather than just saying "Hey, check your email." I'm not upset that the phone versions exist, I think that's fine. I just wish the old style version ALSO existed, without a lot of running around. Reply #4157. Oct 06 23, 10:48 AM |

There seems to be an assumption these days that everyone has access to mobile phones and to e mail.I live in an apartment building in which the majority of the population is fast-approaching its sell-by date, and the majority of them are not wired into the world wide web in anyt way, shape, or form. Same thing with coupons and discounts. I just saw a discount for 20% off one item, but you had to use an app. Some people still use flip phones. And there are all kinds of coupons you can get on line, to print out. Also, coupons that you scan at the store from your smart phone. Not everyone has all these 'new fangled' gadgets! Reply #4159. I understand why this has happened, but still I am not very happy about it. I am speaking of the "purge" that has occurred on many of the subject areas of the FT Boards, where every single post has been wiped and there is nothing there at present. It is true that many of these subject areas were very, very poorly used in recent years, with almost no posts, so clearly the powers-that-be saw that maybe a fresh start might help (couldn't hurt), but still I wish that they hadn't just wiped away all the old threads, even though no one had contributed to them recently. I wish there had been a way to close those threads en masse and "archive" them, so that they could still be read, but apparently the logistics of doing that was too difficult.
