No, that doesn't typically happen to anyone else. It's pretty much a universal rule that you NEVER put punctuation (except apostrophes) in fill-in-the-blank answers, and most quizzes state this in their intros. Reply #1. Feb 28 13, 12:57 AM |

The answers were sentences so I put them in the proper format, as most people would. If they didn't want the periods, it should have been stated on there someplace. I feel this is not fair at all! I had the answers right so I should have gotten my points. Reply #2. Feb 28 13, 1:26 AM |

I've been caught out, not on full stops at the end of sentences, but with other punctuation, in the absence of directions. The directions are in the rubric, but not repeated in every question, so a single question plucked from a quiz will leave us relying on telepathy and guesswork, unless we've seen the question before. It can happen with whole quizzes too. I've seen whole quizzes being used in various parts of the site, minus half the rubric - the half that tells you what to do. i suppose the solution is for all the questions to be checked manually in advance. Failing that, ask Terry for the points you should have got! Reply #3. Feb 28 13, 5:37 AM |

Thanks but I have no way to prove that I had them all correct so I doubt that would work, unfortunately. It's just frustrating & irritating! This thread was created for anyone who wants to vent, I guess! :) Reply #4. Feb 28 13, 9:17 AM |

I use the Czech keyboard and it normally works, but I MUSTN“T use the apostrophe. If an apostrophe is required I must switch to the English keyboard. The Czech apostrophe ruined many games. My answers are all correct, but the result is zero. Reply #5. Feb 28 13, 11:44 AM |

They must really be picky about punctuation on here! Just using the wrong kind of keyboard will mess up your chances! Jeez! Reply #6. Feb 28 13, 6:56 PM |

Difference in punctuation on keyboards is one of the reasons why punctuation is no longer allowed in FITB questions. Reply #7. Feb 28 13, 7:53 PM |

My problem is if a word can be spelled in more than one way and I use the other spelling. Reply #8. Mar 02 13, 10:30 AM |

Yesterday I used an accepted spelling in my answer but it wasn't accepted by the author so that was bothersome. I never capitalize or punctuate on FITB unless I'm told to do so. Reply #9. Mar 10 13, 9:23 PM |

I just played today's Brain Twist, and must say ,that there is no fun in playing such a ridiculous quiz. I cannot believe that quizzes of this "quality" are allowed on FT. I certainly will not bother wasting time on them again. Reply #10. Mar 22 13, 7:16 PM |

Do we all have the same Brain Twist? I had quite a clever one. http://www.funtrivia.com/playquiz/quiz113520d01188.html Reply #11. Mar 22 13, 7:29 PM |

If you ever use an valid spelling in a FITB, and it is not accepted, please send a correction note. Authors are supposed to add all valid spellings, but sometimes one gets missed. It's very easy for us to correct this. In fact, whenever you find something wrong with a question - actually wrong, not just "It's not to my taste" - please send a CN. Our system just doesn't work if players don't report issues. Reply #12. Mar 22 13, 7:29 PM |

Today I feel cheated out of an answer: I wrote "Too hot to handle" which has too/to used correctly. The answer given was "Too hot too handle" in which the second "too" is incorrect English. And mine was marked wrong! Bah! Reply #13. Jul 05 13, 8:24 AM |

Yes, I've had something like that a few times. Usually if the answer needs a punctuation mark, this will be stated in the question. Sometimes I have trouble with spellings of foreign words, especially when they are transliterations. For instance, the answer to this question was "kookaburra" and it didn't accept my spelling. I'm sure there are many acceptable spellings of this word and others like it, right? Reply #14. Jul 05 13, 12:24 PM |

Kookaburra is not a foreign word. It's an English word derived from the aboriginal name and the sound of the bird's call. And there's only one way to spell it. Reply #15. Jul 05 13, 1:35 PM |

I have had similar problems and it's frustrating but it is just a game. I found myself getting upset over missing points I rightfully should have been awarded but I enjoy this site so much that I refuse to let it bother me anymore. Still, it is frustrating. Reply #16. Jul 08 13, 12:48 PM |

I'm always bemused by what people find annoying or "unfair". I would think that not having potable water or adequate medical care would be more than frustrating. Those two things account for more than 3/4 of the world's population. And I'll bet they complain less than the people on this site lol. Reply #17. Jul 14 13, 9:09 PM |

Since this thread has nothing to do with not having potable water or adequate medical care, then why would anybody be discussing these 2 things on here in the first place? If anybody wants to discuss those 2 things, then feel free to make your own thread about them & have at it! This happens to be a thread about badges, so.... Reply #19. Jul 15 13, 11:44 AM |
