Some people wish not to. Others cannot write English well enough to make quizzes. Still others have various other reasons. Longevity on this site does not necessarily mean they will write quizzes. Some people simply do not like it, and they prefer playing quizzes and games instead. Alternately, we get quizzes from extremely new people. :) Reply #1. Jun 11 13, 2:31 PM |

As an editor, I have a line I use on a quizwriter who really doesn't seem to be making any headway after several tries. "Not everyone thinks that spending hours doing research, and further hours proof-reading (and proof-reading again) is fun. We have many players who just play the games and quizzes, and leave the quiz writing to those who find all the work involved enjoyable. It's OK - there is more than one way to enjoy this site. I am one of those people that have been around for years, and yet I have not written a quiz. Yes, I have taken part in some team quizzes, but haven't written a quiz because there are so many quizzes already written on many of the topics I'm interested in. Reply #5. Jun 11 13, 6:05 PM |

I bet that I am not the only FT Member who has tried to submit a quiz, after many hours of research and editing, only to have it rejected because it was not all in my own words. So, I spend a lot of time on FT, enjoying the fruits of labour of other successful members. I may make another attempt in the future, and try to follow the rules more closely. Reply #6. Not everyone likes making quizzes! I tried it out & didn't like it so I never made anymore! I'm sure lots of other people have similar feelings & just don't like making quizzes. Reply #7. Jun 12 13, 12:13 AM |

I would love to write a quiz, I just never managed so far. I have started several and was never satisfied. I don't want to submit something boring and ill-patched together. Yet I hope that someday I'll have at least one quiz of my own. That's why I'm counting on incentives like the Ascension Quest or Adventures in Authoring - although AiA hasn't been quite such a powerful incentive for me so far, so maybe AQ? Fingers crossed. Yes... Quiz writing is like Marmite; you either love it or hate it. There can be no fence-sitting I'm afraid! I love it. Reply #10. Jun 12 13, 9:12 PM |

Yep, having tried Marmite recently i can attest to that analogy. I've have an almost completed quiz sitting on the template for quite a while now, and whenever i think i should finish it i get distracted, rather easily i'm afraid. One of these days.... Reply #11. Jun 12 13, 9:57 PM |

I am another who has been on for years, yet I have only written a copule of quizzes. Even more strange, I am a writer by trade. But, I find I do not enjoy the quiz writing process in the least. Reply #12. Jun 12 13, 10:18 PM |

I prefer playing, though I do have an unfinished quiz from a long time ago. I need fewer interruptions/more concentration for authoring so it's easier for me to just play. And like Qmel said, I usually find quizzes have already been written for the topics I'm interested in. Slightly off topic, I do think single question credit should have been given all along to members for their contributions to team quizzes. Reply #13. Jun 14 13, 12:04 AM |

I have been on here for years and have not picked up enough courage to attempt a quiz. I have so much respect for those who have. Maybe someday I will try. Reply #15. Jun 14 13, 6:46 AM |

If you play the Ascension Quest, you'd better be prepared to write a quiz. Or quizzes! Reply #16. Jun 14 13, 7:36 AM |

I've been a member since 2009 and I haven't made a quiz yet. I keep planning to make a quiz but I still haven't got around to it. I haven't been able to decide on a topic or find the time to create one yet. I can't speak for anyone else but that's why I haven't made a quiz yet. Reply #17. Oct 04 13, 5:58 PM |

salami_swami is right, I haven't written a quiz because I'm not sure about my English. I have written 20 questions, with very good ratings, all of them over 0.2, I'm still not pleased with my phrasing. I decided to keep playing and writing questions and hopefully I'll reach the author status. Reply #18. Oct 06 13, 3:30 AM |

I wrote two, then encountered a bunch of the exact same questions in various random quizzes I played. It was kind of dismaying. Reply #19. Oct 06 13, 4:18 AM |

Although I have contributed questions to a couple of Team quizzes I just do not feel I have the time to write my own quiz. With a full time job as well as running the household I would rather spend any spare time I have trying to win points for my team rather than writing quizzes. Reply #20. Oct 06 13, 4:45 AM |
