Today is ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand, an event marked right throughout the country in remembrance of all our fallen in the countless military engagements right throughout the world in which our young men and women have taken part to help protect the freedom and rights of millions of people in so many other lands. Lands in which our young blood stained their soil.
Was it worth it? Oh, was it worth it? In today's world of so much horror and war everywhere, was it worth it?
And I know, in all the parades and marches that have taken place in every town, village and city in our great and beautiful brown land, that those shadowy figures marching along behind every row of marchers today, would, if they could, answer with a resounding "Yes - we did not die in vain - we answered freedom's call!"
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
