Subject: What are your travel plans for 2009?

Posted by: Cymruambyth

Anybody planning a trip for 2009? I will be visiting Atlantic Canada for the first time when I attend a meeting of the Anglican Church of Canada committee of which I am a member. It's to be held in March just outside St. John's, and I'm looking forward to it.

Other than that, I'm a stay-at-home for the rest of the year, although I might get in a few day trips to the lake. We have beautiful lakes and beaches here, and the drive is between 45 minutes and an hour to get to them.

Normally only have one holiday a year, but this year it will be two. My partner is having a special birthday this year so I have booked a surprise holiday in May to Zante. Then in September off to Tunisia.

In my dreams, I am traveling the world in 2009 but in reality, I will probably be going to Florida as usual. We go there every year.

I'm not sure yet, but I'm hopeful! Originally I wasn't supposed to be in school this year, and I wanted to take a Caribbean vacation this winter, but I don't want to do that in the midst of a school year. Maybe at the end of April though, who knows.

Another thing I'm contemplating (probably just fantasy, I doubt I will do it) is to get a job overseas after I graduate this spring. It might be fun, especially if I find something that's a set 6 months/1 year job or something like that. Last summer, I applied to the government's student employment program and I was given an opportunity to apply to work at Canadian heritage sites in France (like Vimy Ridge), but I didn't get the offer until August, and I was back to class in September so I couldn't take it.

Fingers crossed that I'll be house-hunting in the north part of Georgia (currently in Illinois).

Will be doing a tour of Scotland in May.
Have booked up accomodation in Argyll, Tobermory (Mull), Rhum, Ullapool, Thurso, Inverness, Montrose, St Andrews, North Berwick, Stranraer and Alloway. Will be in Ayrshire for The Open in July. Not that I'm a golf fan, friends are taking me to Turnberry for the 4 days.

Also booked up for 3 nights in Barcelona, then a ferry to Rome for 4 nights. Prices for short breaks just now are amazingly cheap.

Turkey is also on the agenda. Anywhere outwith the Euro zone seems to be getting the most favourable sales pitch at this moment in time.

I'll decide what to do in October nearer the time.

I may go to Rickmansworth tomorrow and Forest Hill in a week or two. I don't think there was a distance limit specified? I also do plan another trip to Oxford when the clocks go forward which is a little further, but I'm happy locally now besides an eventual trip planned for Ireland which is far too close to miss visiting, but no idea when.

No plans yet! But I think it is time to start thinking about where to go. No international trips, that's for sure.

I plan to travel to the southwest of the Uk for a marine biology trip, to discover the rockpools and diversity of life compared to rockpools on the east coast of England.

I am definitely, without fail, going to London England in October 2009. Dates are still to be determined, but yes, I am going, and I cannot wait! :D

My big plans are Budapest in 2010, but for this year I'm hoping to get to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Once I line up a new job (hopefully soon), I want to set it up so I can take about a 2 week trip to Australia. Will hang for a couple days and meet with friends in Sydney and Wollongong, then take a road trip down the coast to Melbourne, stopping and surfing along the way. There are a couple of spots that I have been dying to surf but just haven't gotten the chance due to lack of swell so am keeping my fingers crossed for that. However, with 2 weeks time, usually something hits around that span.

On our docket is a trip to the Pigeon Forge area of Tennessee. I've never been to Tennessee before, so it will be a bit of a treat. It'll also be the last of the four North Carolina border states that I'll get to visit.
