Subject: Is it spring where you are?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We seem to have broken Old Man Winter's back - the temperatures have been relatively mild of late (today the high will be minus three Celsius) and while we could still get a blizzard (we haven't had one since 1997 and we usually get one every ten years or so), I think the worst is over. Canadian Tire and RONA have opened up their gardening supplies areas and seed packets are sprouting gaily on stands at the end of the aisles featuring rakes and hoes, watering cans and wheelbarrows. Methinks spring cannot be far behind. I'm eagerly awaiting my first sighting of Canada geese in the air and pot holes in the road on the ground - two sure signs of spring where I live. What about where you live? (Of course, for those in the Antipodes, you're no doubt looking forward to autumn, n'est-ce pas?)

We got about a foot of snow yesterday in Connecticut, so we're not in the clear just yet. I have a feeling that might've been the last major winter storm. We've been getting much more snow than usual this winter.

Goodness, no! My immediate landscape is dotted with snow!

Almost - we are due for mid 70's to low 80's starting on Thursday. Hopefully it'll stay for quite awhile.

It is getting there. My cherry, plum, peach, and apricot trees are blooming. The apple, pear , citrus , and avocado trees are getting ready to bloom. I have planted the tomatoes and onion sets. It isn't as warm as I would like it to be butI can't complain.

Since Pagiedamon and I are from the same part of the world, I believe that the Right Honorable Moderator will agree with me in saying that spring in the Carolinas doesn't start until Memorial Day. Between now and then, things are too unstable.

LOL! I agree, whole-heartedly. Should we mention that spring usually consists of about two days, and then summer lasts until nearly November?

The weather is actually getting cold here in the UK, March is always unsettled, April less so, Spring doesnt really start until May temparature-wise, so even though it is officially Spring, the subzero temparatures and the snowstorms would suggest otherwise lol.

"Cast not a clout
"Till May is out," Mike?

Where I am, the sun is shining in a blue sky, and the grass is green and studded with tiny purple crocuses. Unfortunately, the white fluffy clouds have got a gathering patch of grey in them.

My wife insists it is entirely too cold -- and we are in FL! The worst blizzard I remember was on a St. Patrick's Day in NY ... 2 feet of snow it seemed. So Spring is not yet here.

Well we did have blizzards on the first day of May (my birthday) a few years back, but that was at the top of the notorious Hardknott Pass in the Lake District, by the time we reached Muncaster Castle we were back in glorious sunshine, but thats the lakes for you, hundreds of mountains, hundreds of microclimates.

It was 80 degrees and sunny for the last week or two but alas, had to come to an end. Storm front moved in last night. At least it also brought a decent swell with it too - finally. But air temp in the low 60s, south wind, and gloomy. Surfed for about 4 hours today and although the wind started to junk up the waves a bit as it shifted more west, was still pretty decent. Was started to rain lightly though and since my clothes were on the beach, the last thing I wanted to do was change into wet clothes!

The weather has started to change over here (we hope) and the leaves are starting to turn so it will be Autumn soon(well the calendar says it is already Autumn). Nights are starting to get a bit colder and one cat is starting to cuddle up at night again.

It looked like spring for about two days last week, then whump - more snow! I'm looking out of my window at a landscape that looks like a bunch of cakes covered with white icing - only the cakes are my neighbours houses, cars, lawns, etc. Brrr. I am s-o-o-o heartily sick of winter.

THis must confuse the heck out of the geese who had started their spring migration north.

Typical March day.............early Spring, the garden a mass of daffodils in full bloom (unfortunately mainly horizontal daffodils, due to "March gale" flattening them). Bright, sunny, but a chill Northern gale blowing.

It's should be spring where I live, but it sure doesn't seem like it yet. It is very close.

Seems more like summer to me right now, and it's not even August yet. :(

We've had three weeks of lovely spring weather - although the temperatures have been below normal - and guess what's in the forecast for Saturday? More SNOW! It's enough to make a person want to move to Tahiti...but if I did that, I'd miss the snow and the change of seasons, so I'll stay here. Good thing I haven't put my winter clothing away yet!
