I agree, I think Melbourne is the best city in Oz, particularly for the arts. Reply #1. May 05 12, 6:01 AM |

Hard to choose between them really...Sydney is beautiful but I think Melbourne is more interesting. Also, favourite for what? Living in or visiting? I chose to stay in Canberra because it has lots going for it, especially if you want to raise a family here. But we visit both Syd and Melb quite a bit as they are great cities too. Reply #2. I've never visited Australia so am unable to offer an opinion on your choice. However, I live in Salisbury UK, a small city of about 40,000 residents and have never found anywhere else I'd prefer to live. We have 5 rivers in the area, surrounded by countryside and with as many ancient sites and buildings as you could wish for, such as Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. Reply #3. May 27 12, 6:38 AM |

I was very lucky that I could choose the place where I could live rather than the other way round. I chose Brisbane in Queensland in Australia. I scored the Trifecta: Best city in the best state in the Lucky Country. (sigh) Reply #5. Nov 13 12, 6:25 AM |

Besides my hometown of Beaumont, Texas, USA, I love our capital city of Austin, Texas, because it's so friendly to the blind & other forms of disabilities. Reply #7. Nov 25 12, 6:01 AM |

Yes, Austin is a great town. Been there once. It's clean and well kept and has a great music scene. I went to New Orleans for the second time this September. I was pretty intoxicated most of the time while I was there but it did seem like they're doing a decent job there recovering from the Hurricane. Although I probably did not see the hardest hit areas. It's not like we went sightseeing in the 9th Ward. Reply #8. Nov 25 12, 9:10 AM |

The little I saw of Washington DC was very impressive, a nice combination of British and American architecture and all the planned design of the government buildings. In Britain it's probably Oxford, one of the few places where the centre is better than the outskirts. Reply #10. Oct 16 13, 3:19 PM |

My favorite city is Istanbul. I find this mix of East and West unique. Second best is New Orleans. Reply #11. Oct 17 13, 11:44 AM |

I love Köln, but I spent the happiest years of my life in Osnabrück, northern Germany... I think that Osnabrück just pips it! Reply #12. Oct 17 13, 12:07 PM |

My favorite place is San Diego, CA. Moved there when I was 5 months old and lived there for 21 years. Our school system made sure we got to go to the San Diego Zoo every year. They have the largest amount of species of animals of any zoo in the U.S. There were museums, beaches, mountains, and the greatest weather in the world. I don't live there now, but it was a great place to grow up. Reply #14. May 24 14, 11:49 PM |
