I had heard a long time back that she had cancer. I give her credit for trying to keep her illness to herself so she could die peacefully. I wasn't a disco fan but there was one song she did that I liked. I don't know what it's called so I'll have to check youtube. Reply #1. May 17 12, 9:57 PM |

I was a D.J. in the disco era so I remember her songs with a smile. "Bad Girls" "Hot Stuff" and "Love to Love You Baby" certainly made the dance floor a 'hot' place! RIP Donna Summer. Reply #2. May 17 12, 10:15 PM |

I'm not a fan of Disco, but I loved Donna's music. Disco was hot stuff when I was a kid & it was everywhere. You couldn't listen to a radio without hearing it! I grew to like her songs, it must have been her beautiful voice! Anyway, I was reading some articles about her online & came across one that said she died of lung cancer & some believe it was caused by her breathing in toxins caused by the 9/11 New York attack. I wonder if this could be true? Here is a link to that article: http://www.tmz.com/2012/05/17/donna-summer-dead-last-dance/ Reply #3. May 18 12, 1:29 AM |

I grew up during the disco era. I never really liked most of the music, but I did like some of her songs. They had something to say. Her good looks were a plus as well. I'll miss her. Reply #4. May 18 12, 6:37 AM |

I didn't go to discotheques either but a lot of the music was fun - and some of the dancing was hilarious... that's not relevant, though. Donna Summer was one of the biggest names of the genre, and she was very good at it indeed. She was also very brave and restrained to keep her illness to herself. Often, once the press hear that a famous person has a terminal illness, they will follow them around, watching and waiting for them to die (remember Dudley Moore?), and that may have been what she wanted to avoid. RIP Ms Summer. Mark, is there no end to your talents?! Reply #5. May 18 12, 8:58 AM |
