What a sad day for the music world. His accomplishments in an almost sixty-year career can't be disputed. The fact that he was so drunk during most of his earlier performances helped prove he was too good a musician to fail. Between his infamous trips to the liquor store on his riding mowers and the hair salon he kept in his home he was a real character! I inherited and listened to my father's country music collection and I think George Jones could make any song sound good. I'm glad other music legends (Sinatra, Keith Richards, etc.) recognized his talent during his lifetime. He'll be missed forever. Reply #4. Apr 26 13, 2:08 PM |

I'll always remember hearing him sing the National Anthem at a Nascar race. One of the best I've ever heard. Reply #5. Apr 26 13, 4:44 PM |

Not really a country music fan, but there was just something about George Jones that I've always liked. He had some darn good songs as well. I was saddened to hear of his passing. May he rest in peace. :( Reply #6. Apr 26 13, 6:46 PM |

One of my favorites from way back. I have many of his 8 tracks and casettes but nothing to play them on. I won't get rid of them. Reply #7. Apr 26 13, 6:51 PM |

He Stopped Loving Her Today', has to be one of the saddest songs i've ever heard. He used to be called 'No Show Jones', because of his drinking sprees, as he was often late or in some cases, not show up at all for his concerts. Truly an Original Country Star. I'll miss him. He shall be missed! One of my favorite songs is the one called "I Ain't Ready For The Rocking Chair Yet". Reply #9. Apr 28 13, 4:16 AM |

My Mom used to ride the school bus with him back in the day. He had some tough times growing up, but he sure knew country music. Reply #10. Jun 20 13, 12:59 AM |
