I have had jobs ranging from Police Officer to Secretary. I learned from each one and would not change a thing. If wishes came true, I would be a healer. Not a doctor, so to speak. More of a Shaman. Healing the entire body not just the parts yelling for attention. Reply #1. Aug 14 08, 2:37 PM |

I would love to have worked in a "major" library, the Bodelian or similar. I did work as a library assistant in our local libraries for a while, part time, many years ago. I've never actually had a "proper" full time job, in spite of the numerous bits of paper that supposedly make me uber-employable etc, it just never happened somehow. Who was it said that life is what happens while we're busy making other plans? Reply #2. Aug 14 08, 2:54 PM |

If I had it to do again, I would work in some sort of investigation, crime scene, medical, maybe even private. I would prefer the Coroner's Office, or (among the living) the hospital Emergency Room. Reply #4. Aug 14 08, 3:06 PM |

I would have loved to have been a TV or Movie Star, because there is money and fame that goes with it, but i think even more than that is the fact that your person and personality is forever archived. I always think about a lot of the movie and tv stars that have died, and thought about how lucky their families are to have all that persons' movies or tv episodes on dvd. Most of us are lucky to have a few pictures of our family members that passed away more than 15 or 20 years ago. Nowadays, i am sure there is a lot more footage in the age of camcorders, but still a lot of people aren't in many home videos. In short, when you are famous, your whole life is basically recorded and archived. Reply #5. Aug 14 08, 3:30 PM |

I have been doing accounts payable work since I have been 16 years old. However, until April of 2007, I have never had a job that I actually looked forward to getting up and going to...that is until I started working for French Chef Georges' Perrier. I have to say here an now, that I truly love my job! And I know for a fact, when I am not there (vacations or being out sick), everyone tells me how much they missed and are glad that I am back...that alone is worth more than anything. And I know I am greatly appreciated, and I am appreciatative of my job as well...so all in all a good deal all-round. Agnes (JTJ) Reply #6. Aug 14 08, 3:43 PM |

Completely happy in my career. In my 20th year now, so it must agree with me. Would love to be skipper on an angling/pleasure boat in a warmer place. Could be a nice job in early retirement, different start time, depending on the tides. That's just got me thinking! Hmm. Reply #7. Aug 14 08, 3:47 PM |

I have often thought that I would have liked to own a bookstore. My two favorite independent bookstores, one in Princeton, NJ, and the other here in Chicago, have always left me fantasizing about the possibilities. Alas, the independents that I have so loved have been pushed to the breaking point by large chains and online book-purchasing offering good discounts. That Princeton store that I once wished were mine has closed; and I'm now worrying about my local Chicago store. But it's still a lovely daydream. Reply #8. Aug 14 08, 4:18 PM |

I would love to have worked with animals, in any capacity. Unfortunately there's not a lot of money in it, so I opted for a exciting life in...........accounting! Reply #9. Aug 23 08, 8:43 AM |

I had a varied list, half for business and half for pleasure. Having found O level maths impossible meant half the business went with it, no qualified teacher status (so I taught in private schools with lots of others who couldn't pass it either) and as far as I remember no social work either. TV was also on the list along with psychotherapy. I did the psychotherapy which for business is totally useless as a few people get the work from doctors or investing thousands up front and we get the left overs, but it's what I do well and enjoy so more of a hobby at the moment. And through that I got work on TV (very well paid, if we're really lucky we earn a free DVD of the programme...) but I'm not doing it for money so not a problem, I'd pay them to go on and they know it. Now I just want to do more and also get my writing published somewhere who does pay as I'd be happy to do plenty more of that. Reply #10. Aug 23 08, 10:35 AM |

I have been a Bingo ticket seller, a McDonalds worker (to pay my way through University), and I am now a teacher. If I could, I would love to try working in Publishing, as I would get to read many many many more books for a living. Reply #12. Aug 29 08, 9:21 AM |

This is unrealistic, but I want to be a chef when I grow up. I like cooking and plus, it could be a high-paying job. Reply #13. Oct 06 08, 6:00 PM |

That doesn't sound so unrealistic, RedSoxLuver. If you enjoy cooking, then go for it! I started out as a social worker, then ended up as an elementary school teacher. I love my job, but sometimes I wish I had a job that included travel. Reply #14. Oct 06 08, 7:19 PM |
