tweedle Cute answer. Though if vampires actually exist, some may be attractive, but you and I would only be meals to them. daver Why none, I wonder. Is it because you're not interested in mythic beings or would you be afraid to come upon one of those creatures? Reply #4. Sep 06 11, 1:53 PM |

Hannah, who says they're 'mythic'? LOL I like ghosts because they could tell me about life in the past. Reply #5. Sep 06 11, 2:53 PM |

postcards2go LOL!! I believe in the possibility of all of these things, but none have been proven yet. Ghost are a nice choice; they have more evidence of existence then any of the others, I think. Reply #6. Sep 06 11, 3:05 PM |

I have not seen any of the above, but I have seen the devil in human form. He is my nephew Andrew, and is, without doubt, the spawn of the devil. Future generations, beware of he who is named Andrew. Reply #8. Sep 06 11, 3:20 PM |

Hannah, your second idea is the correct one. "From goulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties, and things that go bump in the night, Good Lord, deliver us!" I am one of the great cowards of the world. Reply #10. Sep 07 11, 6:14 AM |

I'd pick ghosts, but not a malevolent one, just one that wanted to converse about his/her life and why he/she is hanging about. Reply #12. Sep 07 11, 11:04 AM |

daver Hahaha. I would be kind of scared myself to actually see one of those beings, but I still think it would be cool just knowing for myself that one or all of them exist. Reply #13. Sep 07 11, 5:35 PM |

Despite my well-known predilections, I would choose the alien. Given the known basics of organic chemistry and cosmology, I can be reasonably certain that some sort of alien life form exists somewhere, whereas meeting the other four named creatures would probably mean that most rules of the physical universe (or our observation thereof) would need serious revision, and I'm not up for that. stuthehistoryguy Your answer has me a bit curious. I do not know your predilections so I am left wondering; why have you chosen aliens? I am surprised by your last statement revealing your apprehension against new discoveries in the future. True, the existence of the other four listed could alter history as we know it, but it still seems one who has an interest in history would be all for the arisal of... shall we say, "future history". It's not a question of altering history: it's a question of altering basic physical facts about how the universe works. It's pretty much impossible for dead folks to get up and walk, and there really is not a mechanism for survival of consciousness without neural function. Though surviving gigantopithici (Bigfoot) and Pleisiosaurs (Nessie) do not violate the basic workings of creation to such a degree, the odds of their existence after such intense scrutiny are infinitessimal to an absurd degree--to speculate that they exist is to say that humanity is blind to what stands directly in front of us. Aliens, on the other hand, probably DO exist--the planets are all made of essentially the same stuff, after all, so there is no reason that some world, somewhere, has birth creatures akin to us. The challenge is finding them, or them finding us. This would be an epochal event; the other four are just faerie tales. Reply #18. Sep 09 11, 8:29 PM |

It can only be aliens, not because I think they're a big deal as in a possibly infinite universe it would be unimaginable for only earth to have life (and I think they've just found relics on Mars) but how they managed to travel here such a long way. If they could get here then it would solve all our own travel and energy problems if they shared it with us. It would also solve a lot of mysteries currently unanswered which would finally become certain. Reply #19. Sep 09 11, 8:43 PM |

stuthehistoryguy Thanks for getting back to me!! New discoveries would indeed alter basic physical facts, basic physical facts as we know them now. Commenting on your Bigfoot and Nessie theory; there may be stronger proof against their existence, but there are things yet to be discovered. Even you must admit that we humans once thought the Earth was flat. You and I happen to agree on the aliens thing, though common sense says as much; if Earth is a planet with life, why should the other planets not be? Life is an epochal event, it's just sometimes it has to be ancient history before we realize it. "Who can know when his world is going to change? Who can tell before it happens, that every prior experience, all the years, were a preparation for…nothing." -William Goldman Reply #20. Sep 09 11, 10:06 PM |
