Nothin' says lovin' than a Philly steak and cheese. Nothin' says "morning after" cure than an extra greasy cheeseburger and a pot of coffee. Reply #1. May 26 04, 6:04 PM |

Can't beat a chip butty, I think (that's a french fries sandwich to those in the New World). But I'm with you Endor when it comes to the "morning after" - the greasiest cheeseburger you can find plus all the coffee you can drink. Reply #2. May 28 04, 10:34 AM |

I love meatball subs, they are my favorite kind of sandwich. The best ones I have had have been ones my mom or grandmother have made. If you cannot make one yourself, just go to the closest pizzeria, they will have good ones. Or if all else fails, Subway even has good meatball subs. Reply #4. May 30 04, 7:46 PM |

I always liked the Italian mixed salad in mayonnaise in various sandwich shops in the City of London when I was driving a van. It's hard to actually tell what's in it, as there's so much mayonnaise hiding it, but sweetcorn, tomato, cucumber, chicken and possibly coleslaw, with the optional salt and pepper was always one I get first if it's there. All the Italian sandwich bars do it here, I think that's where I first had it (just outside Moorfields eye hospital, all the drivers used to go there as it was the best). If you include pitta bread (and why not?) a health shop opposite my school did hot salad with peanut butter and salad dressing, and hot cheese and garlic options in a toasted brown pitta. I had them every day till they stopped doing them, and liked them equally. I've never seen either anywhere else so stick to the Italian salad now. Reply #6. Jun 04 04, 3:20 PM |

Any hour of the day, any day of the week: a good lobster roll, and the roll absolutely must be toasted and buttered with real butter. Reply #7. Aug 02 04, 9:39 PM |

Peanut butter and honey - fresh brown bread, a good thick slice, homesliced, not machine. Crunchy peanut butter, thick firm creamed honey. No, no, how about a Monte Cristo I think it's called - ham and cheese (a nice swiss, maybe, cut thick and home baked ham, also cut thick) then dipped in egg and cooked like French toast. No, no, I know - Roast pork, still warm, with a sharp seedy mustard on a fresh Kaiser bun, just a little mayo. Oh, dear, I'm off to the kitchen now... Reply #9. Aug 13 04, 8:49 PM |

Two favorites of mine have always been a Steak with fried onions and mustard... (anyone from Philly is going to kill me for that mustard bit) and the roll has to be crispy, or toasted oatmeal bread with melted cheddar cheese and slices of tomato, stuck under the broiler for 5 minutes, mmm... butit has to be open faced, or I won't eat it! -M. I just heard Macdonalds do a steak, cheese, egg and onion breakfast bagel in the states. They don't over here, but I may have to try making one, sounds good. Of course ketchup will be added, plus I put that on bacon sandwiches, but brown sauce on sausage ones. Those are best made with cheap white sliced bread in traditional English cafes. Reply #18. After a few beers, it has to be a hamburger. Normally, it's tuna salad with swiss cheese. But, if I've had a few tuna just isn't the wisest of choices. Reply #20. Aug 02 05, 5:57 PM |
