Author Challenge Quizzes-- hoorah!
At least that's what I say.

The interesting thing about challenge quizzes is that posting a title with an expectation can lead to a completely different result. This challenge here will ask you to take a title from the challenge quizzes list (

http://www.funtrivia.com/quizchallenges.cfm) and fit it into one of the listed categories. There will be fifteen categories posted but only five to begin. If you wish to claim a category, please post in this thread. You may choose any title you wish from the list; choose sensibly (you wouldn't want 'Full House Episode 23' in Sports, for example). Remember, the challenge won't count unless it's claimed from the list!

I really should clear out my backlog of quizzes before attempting something here. Or anywhere else in the Lounge, really.

I'm eyeing Peninsulas and Capes, but don't hold me to it! I'll come back later when I've attended to my other stuff. If anyone wants it in the mean time, go right ahead. ;)

I think I can get Peninsulas and Capes in Geography done in the limited time I have before leaving. (Or packing, or all the other things needed to do to head east - the car got serviced today. That's one thing less to do.)

If no one wants it I can get on it tonight.

Oops, I just went to being the quiz Peninsulas and Capes and it said it was closed, so...guess I'll got start to pack, instead.

Sorry I was so late to ask for it.

Looney-tunes accepted my other challenge quiz from you, "Taste No Evil", in absolute record time!

That category should not be closed-- you should be able to create a quiz there regardless of any warnings.

If you have a title off the author's challenges list (http://www.funtrivia.com/quizchallenges.cfm), sign up for it anyways and go ahead. If a warning appears, ignore it-- it shouldn't be there. ;)

Well, if you go to Geography, and then Physical Geography, and the Capes and Peninsulas, and then try to click on "create" this is what comes up, the first line in red, no less. I assumed it was because you had that name for your quiz and thus I had to go through you on this board in order to by-pass that "restriction".

"Please note that this category, Peninsulas and Capes is restricted:
This category is closed to new submissions."

Now I can go right on by that page and start to input into the quiz form, but I don't want to get to the bottom of it and be told that because it's "restricted and closed to new submissions", I can't submit it.

So, perhaps I should just put the quiz in "Physical Geography" rather in the lesser category "Peninsulas and Capes"?

I can input the quiz tomorrow. I did it on Word so need to transfer it to the forms and edit it, but don't want to do it if it's going to be blown away.

I'll check tomorrow to hear what you tell me to do.

It's not closed or restricted. That warning is part of a bug that we've been unable to fix since we last overhauled our behind the scenes subcategory stuff. There are very few closed categories if any and restrictions would be listed in the category guidelines.

Go ahead and pick your title-- remember to claim it from the list!

If you put it in a Geography category that is close to the one you want, an editor can make the final adjustments for you. So, first off I would suggest you ignore that message, which shouldn't be there, and try to put your template in the best category as you create it while claiming the challenge title. If the system won't actually let you create the template there, you can up one level and try to submit it there. That should get it pretty close to where you want it. An editor looking at your quiz may decide to leave it, or move it to a different subcategory.

The Capes and Peninsulas quiz is in the queue. After my quiz on Limnology is either throw out or accepted, I'll submit it. They're both in Geography which says "2-3" days, so...I'll keep checking while I'm on the road and the minute I see an empty space, I'll throw Capes to the editors.
