That's just part of life. Most of my harder quizzes have poor ratings. Just smile and move on. Reply #1. Jun 25 12, 10:28 AM |

Scoring higher often influences a quiz rating? Some quizes seem so obscure--hints might be needed? Don't let the ratings get to you. Reply #2. Jul 11 12, 10:36 PM |

Speaking both as an author with a number of quizzes up for scrutiny on the Bus Ride, and as the person who is currently responsible for identifying quizzes that are not working on the Bus Ride, and which should be replaced, I would like to ask players to stop and think about whether the quiz did give players a suitable introduction to the country as they rate it. I know that if you didn't get enough questions right so the day doesn't count it is disappointing, but that doesn't make it a bad quiz. On the Bus Ride, you are actively encouraged to take the time to do some research as you try to answer the questions. If you choose not to do so, that is your call. But since you are encouraged to research, you should do so if you find a quiz difficult. This is a chance to educate yourself, not just showoff how much you already know. I can't begin to describe how much I have learned in the process of monitoring the quizzes available for inclusion! I have taken all the quizzes (I know there are others in the same position) as well as all the potential candidates, and was readily able to get at least half the questions right with a bit of research the first time I took it. I rate most quizzes excellent on quality not by how many I got right. I have rated a few poorer because they were poorly constructed, ridiculous, or lacking in information on the answer. Some I have got all correct I have scored lower due to quality, construction and no information on answers. I have missed all and rated excellent because the answers were fully explained and informative. I prefer some info about an answer so I can learn something and enjoy the quiz more. Spite rating should be avoided and judge by the quiz and what you learned and not how you did on it. Knowledge and fun should be considered in ratings, not your score. I hope this enlightens some and amuses others LOL. Always have fun playing and relax, it's just a game. Reply #4. Apr 13 13, 9:45 PM |

Geography is one of my favourite subjects although, if you were to look at my quiz playing stats, you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise. When I first stumbled across the wonderful fun trivia, I went through virtually every geography quiz that I could find, played them and then rated them. Whenever I play a 'Bus Ride' quiz which tells me that I've 'already played this quiz', I don't do so again. Hopefully that way my playing the quiz won't affect its stats. Reply #5. When you retake a quiz on the Bus Ride, you get the points for the day, and the country counted if you get enough answers correct. (You can even get it if you wrote the quiz yourself.) However, the system ignores your right/wrong answers in its recording of percentage correct for a question, and you will not be allowed to rate the quiz. For obvious reasons, each player gets a single opportunity to rate a quiz. Reply #6. Apr 14 13, 5:59 PM |

I think each person gets more than one opportunity to rate a quiz, you can rate it on your fourth time of playing if you like -- But each person may only rate a quiz once. So if you've already rated, it will ignore any rating you try to give it. I often don't rate the busride quizzes at all. If I've been directed to take a quiz, either through a game like busride or a daily challenge, I don't rate it unless I am 100% sure about my feeling for it. Sometimes you're just not in the mood to take a quiz about Pokemon but you do it because you want the points etc - it is unfair to rate the quiz in such circumstances. And who knows, you might play it again in the future and think it's brilliant! Reply #7. Sep 30 13, 1:11 PM |

Darkgnome, I've rated quizzes as excellent even when they have had no extra information. If it was excellent fun to play and did what it said on the tin, who cares if it didn't give me a whole page of added info? I really think fun should count for a lot. Reply #8. Sep 30 13, 1:14 PM |

I managed to get 0/10 on one (non-Bus Ride) quiz and still rated it as good! It was I who was at fault and not the quiz setter. Reply #9. Sep 30 13, 5:05 PM |

"I managed to get 0/10 on one (non-Bus Ride) quiz and still rated it as good" You have to get at least two right for your rating to count. Reply #10. Sep 30 13, 5:31 PM |

I rarely down-rate but when I do it is for quizzes being ridiculously easy or the answers being ambiguous. Hard but fair quizzes are the best...especially when you can research. Reply #11. Oct 12 13, 12:46 PM |

I have written only one quiz in Geography that fits the criteria of the Bus Ride, and did notice a slight dip in its ratings for a while, but also found that after a few more players had played it from choice rather than the necessity of the Bus Ride the ratings improved. I would say it's the long-term ratings that matter rather than a temporary downturn. I always rate quizzes impartially, as I would hope others would rate my quizzes, ratings are an important part of the site. Reply #12. Nov 20 13, 4:20 AM |

I always rate on quality and not on how I did anyway, LOL. I expect that courtesy towards my quiz as do the same. Polite and thoughtful when you play is what I say. When I get a bad rating I always ask the why. Could be a problem I can fix to help others enjoy the quiz. Input is always helpful when you rate as well. Just some thoughts on the issue, LOL. I completely sympathize. Reply #13. Dec 27 13, 12:59 AM |

Lots of people do not seem to like my Sochi Quiz, but I just put this off to my not having a lot of experience yet with writing Quizzes. There were also about 15 Questions on this Quiz that I got rid of because of concerns about what the Sochi Quiz would look like to people taking the Quiz in future years. It seems to me that many of the Quizzes on the Bus Ride are quite superior ones. Reply #14. Jan 11 14, 1:49 PM |

I always rate a quiz on the quality of the questions, phraseology and such. I rarely give an excellent rating, usually a good one. I have not taken the time to write a quiz yet, and feel that if someone else takes the time and energy to help us all enjoy this website, the least we can do is give nice feedback. Thanks to ALL quiz writers!!!! Reply #15. Jan 17 14, 6:32 PM |

I think that the quality of the quizzes has gone up over time. Some of the older, lower quality, non edited quizzes are being phased out by our Editors,(who, by the way, do a thankless job). Thanks Editors. Reply #17. Jan 24 14, 10:16 PM |

Older and poorly-rated quizzes used to set up the Bus Ride when they were the only ones available are being replaced by newer and more interesting quizzes as they become available. Reply #19. Jan 26 14, 12:54 AM |
