No doubt I'm in the minority but I found Lucy to be more irritating than funny. My favourite American funny woman is Carol Burnett, my favourite Brit funny woman is Dawn French and my favourite Canadian funny women are Luba Goy and Mary Walsh.

My favorites are the Vitameatavegamin commercial, the chocolate production line, and the one where she was stomping grapes.

I love watching I Love Lucy. I have some of the seasons on dvd and I still watch them every now and again. And of course the grape stomping one and the chocolate one is epic.

They were not shown very often here in the UK, mostly at obscure hours on BBC2, since the advent of cable, we dont get it at all, the channel bosses consider it too dated for a modern audience. It is good old fashioned humour, she was a very funny lady, but I can only watch an episode or two at the time, she does grate a bit after a while.

Yep. Lucille Ball was one of the all time greats. As was Carol Burnett.

Yes, Robin - definite favorites. Don't forget the episode when she tells him at the club that she is expecting. Or when she does have the baby and Ricky shows up in costume.
Gee and Lucy and Ricky couldn't even share the same bed in those days!

I'm more partial to "The Lucy Show" than I am to "I Love Lucy" or "Here's Lucy". What distinguishes "The Lucy Show" from "I Love Lucy" is that Lucille Ball plays a more independent character who doesn't depend so heavily on one running thread to make the show work. The first season of "The Lucy Show" has been officially released in the United States, and I'll add it to my collection at some point.

I'm a huge Lucille Ball fan. I have all the "I Love Lucy" DVD's. I, also, have an "I Love Lucy" T-shirt and socks. Believe it or not, I even named my chihuahua "Lucy" after Lucille Ball. My all-time favorite Lucy is "Lucy is enciente." I, also, love when she goes to the hospital and has "Little Ricky," and Big Ricky faints. LOL! I could talk about Lucy for hours!

Only one episode is funny. The one where she gets drunk. Vitemeatavegimin or what ever. Truth is, she really was drunk.

It was peak viewing, and on all the time, when I was incredibly young. I enjoyed it then but I'm not sure I could watch her for long now.

Here's Lucy in the Vitameatavegamin sketch, total about 11 minutes:

Lucille Ball was a pretty smart woman. Not only did she have three very successful TV shows - she was basically on CBS every year between 1951 and 1974 - but she was the first woman to head a major American studio. Didn't do too bad, either, when she sold Desilu to Paramount.

I loved Lucy. I only wish her other shows would be put on TV here besides "I Love Lucy".

"I Love Lucy" was my baby sitter. My mother would plop me down in front of the TV to watch reruns while she would get ready to go to work. Those are some of my fondest memories.

I'm with Cym, I found her annoying. Nobody is funnier than Carol Burnett.

I Love Lucy, I don't know why Hallmark removed the show from their channel.
