I thought it was very lacklustre tonight, no-one really stood out. I quite liked the Essex Girl but thought her voice lacked real power. As for the muppet at the end, here's Joe Cocker - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIKBq9TeFlw and at Woodstock with subtitles: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/02/joe-cocker-subtitled-vide_n_182389.html Reply #2. 'fraid so Phil, it usually finishes about a week into December (in time to vie for the Christmas No. 1 slot). I can't say I liked the new format. (Re Joe Cocker with subtitles, thanks to Baldricksmum for first pointing me to that particular gem!) Reply #3. Aug 22 09, 1:42 PM |

Sorry Sal, but I thought Daniel was terrific, also the young lad at the beginning... thought the two Irish lads had "potential"..... Reply #4. Aug 22 09, 1:51 PM |

To each their own Sherry:) I prefer the auditions in the old format, ie unaccompanied. To me, there was just too much going on there to really hear him and I just thought he looked a bit silly. The Irish lads weren't too bad, but I thought they rather misunderstood the purpose of an audition when they tried to get the audience to join in. Reply #5. Aug 22 09, 2:10 PM |

The first in the series of ITV1 talent show The X Factor attracts an audience of just under 10 million. Now that is a lot of viewers for a Saturday night. Reply #6. Aug 23 09, 8:06 AM |

I liked the young lad Joe and Daniel. I couldn't abide the two cocky Irish lads, even if they could have sung, their attitudes put me right off...mindst there is always the awful twosome in the show. Reply #7. Aug 23 09, 9:02 AM |

Simon's favorite audition ever: And the performance was actually very good! Very enthusiastic and singing was cool too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zLkailhsqk Reply #8. Aug 24 09, 10:29 PM |

I preferred the old format, I think it's much better without a live audience there at first. It's often quite a cruel process anyway, when people are so so bad yet are convinced they are amazing, it smacks a wee bit of intentional public humiliation to me, having a live audience there. It's one of the reasons I preferred X Factor to any of the other similar shows like Britain's got Talent. Reply #9. Aug 25 09, 6:33 AM |

Seems like Danyl is a hit already and off to USA... not bad going for a teacher with the look of Tiger Woods...lol http://www.google.com/hostednews/ukpress/article/ALeqM5gBr6FG1Ndgr9odvezrlHSm_-CV_Q Reply #10. Aug 25 09, 7:18 AM |

Oh dear. Let's hope it really is just a guest spot. If viewers see him doing the same as Leona Lewis - using our support as a springboard to be off to America - I suspect that his support will plummet. We shall see. Meanwhile, here's something irritating to remind us how good he is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6jeMQw7uNQ&feature=related Anyone who starts off by inviting the audience to join in with them can just leave the stage right now. Dreadful duo, but let's not forget the equally irritating Chico who is now a multi millionaire. Reply #13. Aug 25 09, 7:57 AM |

Shooting the messenger? Nope, 'twas not my intention. Puzzled now. Chico had an act, and he had (has) charm. These two are the embarrassing nephews doing an embarrassing party piece at a family wedding. IMHO! Reply #14. Aug 25 09, 8:45 AM |

The new format is bad because the bad singing will just be 'Boo's' Reply #15. Aug 27 09, 1:32 PM |

I'm not sure i like the new format, i thought there would have been alot more jeering from the audience, when the really bad acts come on, Stacey the girl who sang What a wonderful word really stood out :) Reply #16. Aug 27 09, 4:43 PM |

There were definitely a few 'Wow's tonight - Rochelle(?) from Trinidad and Tobago, the guy with the dead brother (yes, I cried but please, your voice is great so let's not harp on about it for the rest of the series) and the guy at the end - though I can't see him crooning a ballad! The girl group who did the reworked Britney song were pretty good as well. Was there another Chico in the making with the Persian guy at the beginning? Reply #17. Aug 29 09, 1:57 PM |

The Persian guy was really bizarre, but certainly held the attention of the lady judges! Mesmerizing and very Chico time. Liked the girl group too and the Trinidadian girl was a breath of fresh air... some good performances along with some dire ones which should really not have been made such fun of by putting them in the spotlight... hate that bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CECQ1zLtokk I really think Olly is a contender to win - original with great personality... hope no kiss and tell stories come out of the woodwork now. Not the best vocalist, but definitely had the X factor.... local boy for you Sal methinks! Sort of Suggs meets Will Young Reply #19. Sep 13 09, 3:33 AM |
