I dislike all adverts - I can't bring myself to think of a worst one, I usually make a coffee or turn over the channel when they come on...or watch the BBC. :) Reply #2. Jun 16 10, 2:30 PM |

I hate all of them. Even if it's only 20 seconds of advertising, I change the channel. Reply #5. Jun 16 10, 3:15 PM |

I disliked the recent John Lewis one intensely. Hate "Go Compare" but am rather fond of "Compare the Meerkat". Reply #8. Jun 16 10, 4:01 PM |

I switch off when the Sheila's Wheels ad comes on (much prefer the Amateur Transplants version), and hate the Go Compare one. I would also be happy not to hear anyone say "Calm down, dear" ever again. Is it a coincidence that these are all insurance ads? I disliked the one for a loan company a few years ago. "We're skint but the people next door have a smart new car and they're going on posh holidays and we can't even pay the bills... Ping! the loan fairy is here! Consolidate your debts into one easy-to-manage loan, pay off all you bills and debts, and you too can squander money you haven't got, just like the neighbours." Not verbatim, but close enough. I haven't seen it recently. Either it's been taken off, or I'm watching much less telly. Reply #9. Jun 16 10, 5:37 PM |

The one I HATE the most is a commercial for 1-800-contacts. That man and his "special eyes". It is like nails on a chalk board to me. I also hate the Dell commercial with the guys singing "Lollipop". Drives me NUTS! GRRRRRR! Reply #10. Jun 16 10, 6:55 PM |

I dislike the 'Go Compare' one with a vengeance. I'll add the 'We Buy Any Car' and '118118' ones too. If fact, most TV (and radio) adverts bring on an attack of the Tourettes in me! Reply #12. Jun 17 10, 1:00 PM |

I hear ya sasha67. Luckily I only get one channel where I live, ( less commercials) but I hit the mute button fast if that Dell lollipop irritating thing comes on. I rather think it's scared away more potential customers that it's attracted. Oh gawd that song is now going thru my head... Reply #13. Jun 17 10, 4:59 PM |

I find the Telus commercial with the song Splish Splash I Was Taking a Bath really annoying. Actually, all commercials are annoying because they are always so LOUD. Reply #14. Jun 22 10, 8:22 AM |

I had a good friend once who produced and performed in many commercials for radio and television. I commented to him once how much I really hated a certain advertisement and he said that the company accomplished it's intent because I remembered the product and commericals. He said they don't necessarily intend for the audience to 'like' the product - but to remember it. Made sense to me. Reply #15. Jun 22 10, 8:58 AM |

DFS and their perpetual sale but sorry Sal, love the John Lewis ad. The 118 118 directory enquiries grates, but it is supposed to - at least you remember it for all its awfulness - clever marketing - same as Go Compare. Reply #16. Jun 22 10, 11:40 AM |

Dislike most commercials too, especially the ones that portray men as bumbling, stupid, drooling pigs who'll go around sniffing their own underwear to see if they can wear it another day. Women are routinely portrayed as sharp-minded, organized, and resourceful. There might have been a time when one could have complained that women were overly objectified in advertising, as stay-at-home wives needing Mr Clean's help in keeping their kitchen floor looking spotless and shiny, or as vacuous, scantily-clad sex kittens in beer or car commercials, but that is no longer the case today. The ones with the voiceover with the babies. Any of them. Those are played out. On the radio, when McDonalds tries to pander to every race possible with their "cultural" marketing, especially when they are two different back to back commercials. That just cracks me up. I'm pretty sure Heidi Fleiss works for them in marketing. Reply #18. Jun 22 10, 8:07 PM |

I video record my soap opera weekdays so I can fast forward through the ads, but I must say, there are some funny ones, I've been looking them up on YouTube for humour, some crack me up, like the Aflac duck and one I just looked up that my daughter told me about for Lipton Green Tea with talking seafood, it's cute, check it out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmTRyTz5PGM&NR=1 One ad I hate is of a woman and her 2 kids glad that "dad" isn't home, then saying they miss him, it's for an insurance company, don't like it. "The 118 118 directory enquiries grates, but it is supposed to - at least you remember it for all its awfulness - clever marketing - same as Go Compare." To me that's anti-advertising. I would NEVER use their service or buy their product, simply because their adverts annoyed me. Anyone else feel the same way? Reply #20. Jun 25 10, 11:04 AM |
