Originally, I thought that Shiloh was quite a nice name for a little girl, until someone on one of the other boards pointed out the spooneristic delight of "Shiloh Pitt". *sigh* And she's such a cutie, too. I'm not a huge fan of Apple, or Suri, or Kal-el, and don't even get me started on Frank Zappa's kids. I would love to say that this is an American thing, but our Nic and Keith lumbered their daughter with what has been referred to on Australian radio programs as 'Sunday Roast' (from Sunday Rose) - tell me they couldn't see that coming, really! Then there's Jordan and Peter Andre from the UK, and the Beckhams, formerly from the UK, now residing in LA. Or what about George Foreman? Aren't all of his children (both boys and girls) named George? My advice for celebrities bearing babes - your children will already stand out. You do not need to battle it out with the other celebs for the most ridiculous names, or indulge your own fantasy for being a super-hero. Give them a least a small chance to fit in with the rest of us. Reply #1. Sep 05 08, 7:45 AM |

I think people who give their children ridiculous names are guilty of child abuse. Reply #2. Sep 05 08, 6:30 PM |

I think it's such a shame for these kids, having to grow up with daft names like the Beckhams' kids and the Jolie/Pitts' brood. It's like all the celebs try to outdo one another with the silliest names. Oh well, at least they'll never have to worry about where the next meal is coming from. Reply #3. Sep 07 08, 7:14 AM |

Was it that Gwen Stefani named her kid Zuma. Angelina Jolie called her two kids Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Léon. Reply #5. Sep 08 08, 2:52 PM |

Apple? Really? Why can't they stay with the classics? Matilda, an older name, but a classic. Halle Berry's baby, Nahla? Meh. Reply #6. Sep 11 08, 4:31 PM |

And what's with Sarah Palin's name choices for her children - Trig, Track, Willow, Bristol, Piper (did she name the last two mentioned after airplanes?). Reply #7. Sep 19 08, 12:10 PM |

Just for fun, log on to http://personal-space.com/script/script.php and see what your name would have been if Sarah Palin had had the task of naming you. She'd have named me Mangle Blue, according to that site. Reply #8. Sep 20 08, 11:25 PM |

I watched Hostage last night which stars one of my favourite actors, Bruce Willis. Such a pity he called his kids, Rumer, Scout LaRue & Tallulah Belle. Wonder what they call them at home, Rumy, Scout & Tally? As in Chief Talley which was his character in Hostage! Ha! Reply #13. Sep 22 08, 7:42 AM |

No, jordandog, you can't top that. Wasn't that an M.C. Hammer song? Sorry, O.T., as usual. Reply #15. Sep 22 08, 9:32 AM |

Just to prove that you don't have to be a celebrity to give kids strange names, we had a baptism candidate a couple of years ago whose name was Autumn Skye Rainbow! I also knew a family who had little girls named Symphony, Harmony and Melody. The parents were musicians and I guess they thought they were being clever. What would they have named a boy if they had one - Clef? Stave? Reply #18. Sep 23 08, 8:05 AM |

I have a friend from childhood who called her son 'Tintin'. I've already signed him up for karate lessons.(sigh) I won't reveal what she called her daughters (that would make her traceable, not kidding) but needless to say they are equally ridiculous. Prior to this she had never shown any symptoms of being a 'wannabe'. Guess you never know though . . . Reply #19. Oct 19 08, 11:34 PM |
