Posted by: dsimpy I hadn't realised that he'd died until I saw this post. Sorry to learn this, he was a good actor and, as Lilady says, a fighter. Reply #1. Sep 14 09, 8:10 PM Delete - Edit Reply #1. Sep 14 09, 7:27 PM |

Posted by: Cymruambyth Condolences to his family and friends. Swayze was a delightful actor. I especially enjoyed his work in 'To Wong Foo. Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar' in which he played a very convincing drag queen. Reply #4. Sep 14 09, 8:15 PM Delete - Edit Reply #3. Sep 14 09, 7:32 PM |

He was not really expected to make a recovery, and lasted a lot longer than they thought he was, the media networks had finalised his obituary segments in the spring, I hope he didn't suffer too much. Dirty Dancing was the film most people will remember him for, but he did several other excellent films, The Outsiders, Roadhouse, also Ghost but we will gloss over that one, and who can forget the outstanding crossdressing in To Wong Foo lol, a very versatile and talented actor, take Cruise instead please, he will not be missed half as much. I think he was a a better actor than people gave him credit for being. He also seemed to be a decent guy, something rare in Hollywood. My favorites among his films are "Ghost" and "Next of Kin," the latter being a celebration of my cultural heritage. Reply #8. Sep 15 09, 2:08 PM |

I wasn't a fan or anything, but I was pretty stunned when I saw the news. I think I saw "Dirty Dancing" at least 100 times in high school. Reply #9. Sep 15 09, 2:57 PM |

His marriage of 34 years is quite uncommon in tinseltown. Reply #2. Sep 16 09, 1:01 AM Delete - Edit Reply #10. Sep 16 09, 12:28 AM |

Roadhouse was one of my favourites, Next of Kin, Dirty Dancing, Steel Dawn and the epic North and South. They were all great viewing and he was such a handsome, gracious man. I'm so sorry that he has gone from this life but hope he enjoys the next, until his loving wife can join him. Reply #11. Sep 18 09, 7:38 AM |

Thanks for that clip there Honeybee, that must have been great for the townsfolk. The film was not only good but the music was brilliant too. I bought the soundtrack not long after, as The Jeff Healey Band were one of my favourites but there was a great mix of, Otis Redding and Patrick Swayze also sang on two of the tracks. Reply #13. 11:14 is a really good Swayze movie, similar to Crash. I actually requested this movie from the library the day before his death. Still waiting for it. Reply #16. Sep 25 09, 4:21 PM |
