Subject: Oprah meets the Opera House

I am seriously considering throwing my TV into the path of the next road train that comes past.
We only get 4 TV channels, and I turned on to watch the news tonight.. very little other than Oprah.. channel hopped.. more Oprah... and so on through all four channels.
Guess what ? I don't care where she is or what she does. Give me REAL news !

I agree. I'm so sick of hearing about this pompous windbag! Can't stand her & her overinflated ego.

I Know she's egocentric;as long as it boosts our tourism work force!

Regardless of what I may or may not think about her personality, I still admire the fact that Oprah's helped so many young people get an education. That's important.

Oh, and when I saw the title of this thread, I thought you were talking about the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC. :P

On a more serious note, the celebration of Joan Sutherland's career took place at the Opera House a couple of weeks ago.
The footage I saw suggested it was a moving tribute.

Good onya Tezza, I share your sentiments entirely. I have been turning the telly on with a good deal of trepidation this past week fearing that the latest news flash would be about Oprah going to the toilet or sneezing or making a cup of coffee or reading the newspaper etc. There are far more important issues worldwide that are more newsworthy than this.

Count yourself lucky...in Chicago she's on 2 times a day. The same show rebroadcast. I can't wait till her show is off the air.

And now she has her own channel on Dish Network. I won't be watching it anytime soon.

I must admit I watched Oprah in her early days, but haven't watched her for a while other than while switching through the channels. I think it is gloating when she gives a lot of the gifts away or does something that is way over-board for people. If she wants to donate to a worthy cause that will help everyone, I think that would be more appropriate.

Oprah is on here at least twice a day. At the very beginning I didn't mind her and also thought it was great that she was helping people less fortunate but over the years I found her to be self-righteous and do not watch her anymore. They say she is retiring only to go on to a new network so I don't call that retirement.
