Subject: Are you celebrating Thanksgiving?

Posted by: oldstuff28
Date: Nov 21 09

People in the U.S. celebrate Thanksgiving the fourth Thursday in November. It is a time to be thankful for everything we have. The celebration usually has a dinner of roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a vegetable (green bean casserole is the current favorite) cranberry sauce and rolls. This is topped off with pie which can be pumpkin, apple, or pecan.

Yes I am. This year we are gathering at my aunts' house. Not sure what dinner will be, apart from delicious.

In Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in the second Monday of October, so we have a six week break between turkey dinners!

Oy, my math skills are non-existent. Make that a ten-week break between turkey dinners.

I will be cooking for my four kids, their wives, grandkids, brothers and sister-in-laws. I have a 22 lb turkey, 15 lb ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatos and gravy, cranberry sauce, two vegetables, olives, pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie, and lots of snacks. Everything is already bought and planned so I am sure it will turn out fine and right on time. Whoa, I almost forgot the main thing, cornbread dressing. That is what everybody always looks for, my cornbread dressing.

Yes. Stuffing my face with the deilicious foods that I am thankful for- at home, with my family.

I forgot. I'm very thankful that the Broncos play at home on Thanksgiving. That means we don't have to go to Sterling to see my Dad's family, who for the most part, despise us.
