I like camping but I haven't gone since I was a kid. We slept in a tent with sleeping bags, a small charcole grill, floorescent lights and our shheep dog Sammy. It would be cool to go back sometime. Reply #1. Jul 31 10, 10:41 AM |

Honestly, if there's no room service involved, I can't do it... Reply #2. Jul 31 10, 10:56 AM |

Boy and I love camping, but I like a tent and stove and the rest. I allow him to go feral for one overnight if he wants to,but without me. Last time it was a sleeping bag, bender and open fire with burnt bits of protein on a stick. Nerdlet and OH would be with Veronica. :D Reply #3. Jul 31 10, 12:39 PM |

As a family when the kids were young, we camped a bit, but I slept in the bed of the truck. Bugs, you know! Glad to know I'm not the only one. :) Reply #4. Jul 31 10, 8:23 PM |

I'd sleep in a vehicle too rather than in a tent, if there weren't such things as bugs, I'd love camping and the outdoors in general. But since there are bugs, especially this time of year where I live, I'm a house cat and stay indoors, but I do love nature, it's beautiful. Reply #5. Aug 01 10, 10:29 PM |

I haven't been camping for about five or six years, but I loved it! When our sons were youngsters, we spent all our summer vacations camping in various parts of our province. We had a four person tent, air mattresses, the good old four-burner Coleman camp stove, a tent heater (invariably when we went camping, we'd have a minimum of one rainy day so we need the heater to ward of chill and dry out the tent). Our favourite camping spots were Otter Falls in the Whiteshell and Lakes Max and Metigoshe - great swimming, canoing. Reply #6. Aug 04 10, 9:47 AM |

Have had many very happy camping trips with little more than swags, a frying pan and a metal grill. One of the best was spent prospecting in the West Australian Goldfields, with "Small Dog", who was quite astounded by three emus wandering through the middle of our camp one morning. I used to keep a plastic box ready, with everything we needed for a trip, so that when the Man came home and said "lets go", it was only a matter of grabbing the swags, the box and the dog. Reply #7. I like camping but only in a park setting that has showers and a convenience store. Reply #8. Aug 05 10, 10:43 AM |

I agree with veronikka - Roughing it = a hotel without room service. ;) Seriously, I've been camping in Colorado twice. The first time, something stole our hot dogs which were hanging from a tree. The second time, it rained all day and snowed all night (and this was in July). Reply #9. Aug 05 10, 11:23 AM |

I love to camping! I can do it in a tent, but not being able to sweat, I perfer a nice air condition cabin. Reply #10. Aug 05 10, 9:39 PM |

In my re-enactment days, we tried to more or less "camp authentic".....which meant at the best a canvas "pup tent" (although we were allowed to use a sleeping bag...I did say "more or less" Lol) One night it rained quite hard, so I got up, went to my car, took out umbrella and lashed it to front of tent. "That's not authentic", complained our Lieutenant, emerging somewhat damp from his tent. "Maybe not", says I, "But I am dry"! Fun times! Reply #11. Aug 07 10, 1:56 AM |
