Subject: Overkill!

Go to your favorite website for news and you will almost certainly find the name Gosselin.

Flip through your radio stations and I guarantee you'll come across a Nickelback or AC/DC song.

Listen to any teenager for 5 minutes and you will likely hear the words "like", and "sweeeet" several times.

Over-played, over-hyped, over-discussed, over-done.....what do you think has been beaten to death?

I spent about 2 hours in my car driving today, and in that 2 hours I heard Nickelback's Rock Star 3 times. Once more and I might have floored it into oncoming traffic!

Don't get me wrong, I like Nickelback and liked that song the first 500 times I heard it, but it's been played so much that I just can't stand it anymore.

How about the word "whatever"?

I can't say that I have ever heard of the Gosselins in Australia but we certainly hear AC/DC.

That's funny. I happen to think Nickelback and ACDC are horrible and annoying. Along with Kid Rock and Lenny Kravitz they form the quadrumvirate of bands/musicians that should never be heard from again. Mediocre, grating, and played by ClearChannel to numb the taste and decision-making capabilities of the English-speaking world. They--along with Matchbox Twenty--are Orwellian in their suckiness yet continuous broadcast.

I don't know about other countries but over here we seem to have minor celebs who are very much flavour of the month when it comes to adverts, guest appearances, hosting shows etc.

They went into overkill with Mylene Klass a while ago. Now it seems to be Cheryl Cole, who has taken Mylene's spot on the shampoo ads. I find this a bit of a con as Ms Cole's barnet is somewhat padded out by hair extensions!

The stupid Kanye West/Taylor Swift thing. Enough already.

My eldest son is 15. He has an iPod, PC, Xbox, PS3, Hi-fi plus everything else a teenager has. But all I hear from him is "I'm bored".

"I'm bored", I believe, is teenage-speak for "buy me a new game".

I've really had all I can take of the "White House Party Crashers". They did it for the publicity (and potential payoff), and it worked. It seems the Balloon Boy's parents started a new trend of pulling stunts to get themselves in the news in hopes of a reality show.

If everyone, especially the media, would just ignore them, maybe they'll go away.

Advertising, generally, really annoys me.Particularly when the munchkin-brained ad. executives think that by shouting at me,I'm more likely to buy their over-priced rubbish.

But my current 'Bete Noire' is the attemps of Clairol to brain-wash the world by constantly telling everyone daft enough to listen "Because You're Worth It". Why? GRRRRR!

Would someone please confine the Kleenex moms in a cage somewhere? I'm really tired of them and winter (and the cold season) has barely started! FT members who don't live in North America, give thanks to whichever gods protect your native heath from the Kleenex moms!

If we could find a really large cage, maybe we could throw Brangelina and the Cruises and all the other annoying celebrities in there with the Kleenex moms!

The Tiger Woods dramathon is just getting started.

The couple that crashed last weeks State dinner at the White House should be punished...........so let's ignore them completly please.

Saw a clip of this woman called the 'OctoMom' recently. She sounds a bit annoying.........

It's not actually Clairol, Paul, so you may like to take comfort in the fact that this particular bit of brainwashing has failed quite satisfyingly.

Cym, haven't we already put these tedious people on our island?

Two things which are over kill are all this hipe about Michael Jackson's death back in June of this year and whenever we may get a hurricane (I live in FL USA and we are known for hurrricanes between June and November). Another overkill is when a new song comes out, radio stations play it about 10 times a day.

Is FTBot the annoying entity that keeps posting the words that one has to use to create stories? I succumbed once and then the darn thing went into overdrive and practically every posting was 'the word'. Turn it off!

It is, Cym, the very same. Most of us have realised that the best thing to do is to ignore it, but I have to admit that today's SpamBot word ("handbell") has attracted a fair amount of attention. Have a peep: you may be pleasantly surprised.

No more reality shows about super-sized families. No more magazines covers, book deals and product endorsements. I do not care if the children are multiples, adoptees, descendants of the Lost City of Atlantis, the product of polygamous relationships, stowaways from The Good Ship Lollipop or one of 19 siblings whose parents have an unhealthy attachment to the letter "J".

Oooh, let me be the seconder to that motion, Cydonia. Even if we succeed only in getting rid of the overly-fertile Dugger family, I'm all in favour of any move that will eliminate people with more than enough kids from TV screens everywhere. Naive me, I thought that the exploitation of children was aginst the law!
