Subject: Songs which don't use title in lyrics.

Posted by: sectant
Date: Mar 10 18

This was originally on General thread but is now in its rightful place.

Songs where the title is never used in the lyrics include:
Ballad Of John And Yoko by The Beatles
Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
Rhinoceros by Smashing Pumpkins.

Tons of examples out there. Go for it and try not to include instrumentals since there ain't no lyrics nohow!

Whoever told me "Kashmir" does indeed use the title in the lyrics was right. I must have been delirious.

How about...

Wait a minute...

"Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin doesn't use the word "Kashmir" in the lyrics! I just listened to it again, live, and watched it twice, and looked up the lyrics. Plant doesn't sing or say "Kashmir" even once! It's about Kashmir; he doesn't mention the name.

"When moving through Kashmir..." It's a long, drawn out Kashmir, Elle. Towards the end of the song.

Sigh...

Except for this one little verse:

"I will return again
Sure as the dust that floats high in June
When movin' through Kashmir
Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails"

Please forgive me, Sectant! I'm still pleading delirium. How could I have missed that, twice?? I got all caught up in Plant and that jiggy little way he moves that I love so much. Kind of like Axl Rose, but I don't like him, I only like his music. Although maybe he's cleaned up his act. Rumor has it that he has. We can only hope.

Sorry, I was fact-checking "Axl Rose Incidents" before I actually made my post!

You are so right, and I have no clue how I missed that more than once! I blame Robert Plant! And maybe Liquid Chlorophyll and Sweetish Bitters and Licorice Root and Activated Charcoal.

"Sing Me A Song Of Supplements" by Elle

Nothing to forgive Elle. I think I heard that song a hundred times before realising Kashmir does feature in the lyrics. So many Zep songs are hard to decipher, no matter how many times I hear them. Still one of the great rock bands though.
