Subject: Record Time???

Posted by: DamianT

Someone just got 15/15 in 7 (SEVEN!!) seconds! There is obviously some cheating going on here! My question is: How are they doing it? Have they hacked into the site somehow??

No cheating. Being a long-time member and memorization of the questions play a part in this short time. Some just get lucky getting a lot of correct answers.

Yes but 7 seconds?? That's an average of half a second per question and that just seems a little unreal to me!! Nobody can read 15 questions much less pick out a correct answer out of 4 choices in that small amount of time without some kind of "help"!!

I don't know, Buddy, I've only seen 7 seconds once in the easy game with only 10 questions. 15 in 7 looks rather fishy to me.

There is also a score of 15 in 12 seconds in Word Wizard this hour. Strange things are happening. ;)

I too find it difficult to believe that anyone can read, select, move mouse/cursor 15 times (or thereabouts) in seven seconds!

Not possible!

I don't care how fast and nimble your fingers might be, or how quickly you can scan/read key words, I believe it is physically impossible to answer 15 questions in 7 seconds, much less answer them all correctly. Clearly, people have figured out a way to game the system, and eventually the site tech people will discover how to stop them. Unfortunately, someone else will eventually come up with a new way to cheat.

I'm thinking that it's possibly a glitch in the system maybe? It looked odd because the 7 was in the 10's column as if he scored in the 70's as far as time goes and the second digit didn't appear giving him credit for only 7 seconds.

Jabb, I can answer 15 question in 4 seconds, and I've gotten up to 12 correct with randomly clicking an answer. This is, however, extraordinarily rare...

Theoretically, it is possible to get 15 in 7 seconds, but the chances are so incredibly slim.....

I just want to point out that you don't need to read the entire sentence, only find key words, which your eyes (or at least my eyes) tend to go to before starting to read a question. For example, I know there is a question in "Piece of Cake" that asks for the painter of "The Last Supper". All I need to do is see "The Last Supper" and I know the answer is Leonardo da Vinci.
(This post is not to defend the person, it's just me pointing out that you don't need to read the question to answer it.)

I just completed the Impossible game in 6 seconds, answering all 15 questions. (I got 4 right, so my score was 394). Since it’s not in the top 50, you can’t see it, but I assure you I did.

Yes, Buddy, I know all that is possible... All it takes me in the easy game in some categories is a glance at ONLY the answers, not even the question. Even with that, I have never been under 9 seconds (this feat is EXTREMELY rare).

Yes, it is possible to answer all questions correct in blazing fast times, I've seen 16 seconds in alphabetics in expert. But 7 seconds, that is insane. Sure, I can also get 4 second times.

But to get 15 right, and 4 second times, that's impossible to do at the same time....

I was actually responding to jabb5076; it just happened that several people posted in the time it took me to type my response.

I realize that you don't need to read the entire question, that's why I mentioned reading key words. However, I still do not believe it is possible to get 15/15 on a quiz in 7 seconds without cheating. I'm not a statistician, but the probability of getting a perfect score while taking less than half a second to key in an answer (not to mention submitting the quiz) must be infintesmal.

Alright, I asked an admin what happened here.

Apparently, no cheating was involved. It turns out, this was because the time was synced. There was an issue with the FunTrivia clock being an entire minute ahead.... With the time sync, the clock was reset to the correct time. This shaved 45 seconds off of EVERYTHING. Therefore, whoever happened to be playing games at this very short, exact moment had 45 seconds shaved off of their total time (the clock reset). This likely occurred to more people than just the two we have noticed. The only reason we noticed these two was because they had all 15. If someone scored 12 in 4 seconds due to this, we may not have noticed simply because it wasn't the top score.

So, anyway, long story short, no cheating involved. It just happened that these players scored perfectly, and had 45 seconds shaved off their total time, making it appear like they were otherworldly with their scores. :)

So in other words, a glitch in the system??

Thank you Salami--that's an explanation that makes sense.

Not a glitch, per se, Damian, a reset. These players have done absolutely nothing wrong, and also did not win any badges (champs division doesn't really get anything special for winning), so no harm done, anyway.

So at least our question has been answered. A very unusual, unique, perhaps-never-to-happen-again circumstance. :)

I wonder what it will do to their targets for those games in the Daily Challenge?

So I guess time travel is possible, at least on FunTrivia?
Wonder what would've happened if they answered in less than 45 seconds, they would've finished the game before they started. Just when you think you've seen everything there's always something new.

Ah, so that time issue was fixed? Good. I thought something was a little off after daylight savings time rolled around.
