If you win a quiz in the "champions" division, your number of category wins is not incremented.
If you look at the game notes, there are only 200 categories available.
Yet, in the "hall" there are currently 27 people with OVER 200 category wins, and two with over 400.
How is that possible?

There were categories before that no longer exist? That's one possibility. So many impossibilities seem to occur on this site, this is just one of them. Steve Reply #1. May 03 13, 2:25 PM |

Not only are there categories that appear to be (maybe) permanently retired, there are categories that periodically come and go. For example, a couple of weeks ago I wanted to select U.S. Commercials as my weekly pick, only to find it was no longer one of the choices. It appears that some categories rotate in and out. It's too bad that's the case, because it means that people with a lot of expert wins find that categories they haven't won are few and far between. Reply #2. May 03 13, 3:29 PM |

The 200 in the Game Notes is not correct, at any time there are 300 to choose from in Change The Expert, plus more that are not selectable. Topics removed from the game since October 2009: (some because they reached 1000 quizzes) African Countries A - Z Celebrities Mixture Children's Literature English Government Movies H-K Movies Word Play Music by Year Music Word Play Paleontology Something in Common (General Music) The Bible Thematic 10 Questions Thematic Fun Next to go will probably be Food & Drink (now at 996). Movie Word Play was a topic within the past three days. Government and Children's Literature are not retired. I've won both of those categories since the above post was made. Paleontology also shows up regularly. Reply #6. Mar 08 14, 2:32 AM |

MiraJane, that post was made before Expert was overhauled in June 2013. At that time the 1000 quiz limit was removed, Television and Video Games categories were added, Sports appeared more regularly, the bug which prevented For Children categories from appearing was finally fixed after 3 years, and hundreds of other categories were also added (or re-added). P.S. I did notice about 100 categories were also deleted at that time, including most (but not all) of the ones with letter ranges. Reply #8. Mar 14 14, 4:48 PM |
