Subject: Is This An IE 10 Problem?

Posted by: Blackdresss

I have a new laptop. It's lovely. I had to search far and wide to find one with Windows 7, and not Windows 8, which was not made for laptops or PCs.

My new laptop has Windows 7 and IE 10, and I now have a whole new plethora of little, tiny problems, but only in FunTrivia. "Only in FunTrivia" seems really odd to me, and while it may also be a relief, still -- only in FunTrivia? Something isn't meshing and I need to know why so that I can attempt to fix it.

For example, I can no longer put my cursor over anything, to include "Upcoming" to see what Expert games are coming up in the next few hours. That may seem like a tiny little problem, but it is a problem, nonetheless. All it does now is change the word "Upcoming" to a dark blue. Nothing opens, nothing pops up, nothing else happens, at all.

In fact, anything that involves just placing my cursor over anything to see a drop-down list, or notes, or instructions, no longer works. I have no idea what causes it, so I have no idea how to fix it. My best guess is that it's a combination of IE 10 and Windows 7.

If I decide to replay an Expert game using my mulligan, I can no longer see what is coming up, so I might know to save that mulligan for something I might have a better chance at, as far as improving my score. I just blindly replay my game and hope for the best. (And sadly, I just can't resist that mulligan, so it is really nice when I can see what's coming up over the next six hours!)

Also? If I attempt to click on anything that might be at the top of a list, for example, a quiz at the top of a list of quizzes written by a favorite quiz writer, my entire monitor does the frug, fritzes out completely, and if I attempt to click on that quiz, I may or may not be successful. It is not unlike snagging salmon, and I don't know if that is even legal anymore, but it's still a good example. The odds of snagging a salmon are better, however, than the odds of me "snagging" that quiz I am trying to open.

I do realize this is not the end of the world as we know it, but I find something new that doesn't work anymore every single day, so all those little glitches are adding up.

Does anyone have any ideas that might help me with this? Is anyone else having the same problems? Should I bring this up somewhere else? I am bringing it up in here, because I would love to see what is coming up as Expert topics, but that doesn't work anymore.

I did find a quiz writing thread in Forums, and crazy new potential IE 10/Windows 7 glitches came up there, but only as an aside, so the glitch list continues to grow.

I have yet to find any solutions, though, so if you have any, I would appreciate them tremendously. If you know of a thread that deals with this and could direct me there, GREATLY appreciated. Any help at all would be wonderful.

Thank you so much in advance, much like seeing the future in Expert!

Same problem with Upcoming on the Expert Game and trying to pan over badge and badglets on Profile screen. Have new laptop with Windows 8. My screen also does the frug or a little dance in several areas like you describe. Happy I have my desktop to fall back on.

Windows 8 on a laptop is going to cause more problems than just the ones you and I both mentioned.

I don't play trivia on my PC, and while I suppose I could, the thought of having to sit up so straight in that chair kind of makes me grimace.

I've found a few more places on this site where just holding my cursor over the option doesn't work anymore, and I really need to know the things I can't see!

I hope someone comes up with solutions because I have none. But yow, it is so frustrating.

Blackdresss, ditch Internet Explorer and switch to Chrome. Much more user friendly and all of the features work more efficiently. I found IE to be very problematic in little ways. I'm sure once you get the hang of Chrome, it'll save you much grief.

I use IE9 with Windows 7. No problems.

You can get rid of IE 10, and then go to oldversion dot com to download IE9.

I believe if you click on tools and enable active x for FT site your problem will be solved. Hope that works!

I am having the same problem on my desktop. Tried the suggestion about the filter, but it didn't work. Thanks, though :)

Thank you so much for these handy tips! I'll let you know if any of them work.

It is so discouraging when "they" fix something that just isn't broken, isn't it? Crazy updates!

Switched to using Firefox as my browser instead of IE10 with my Windows 8 laptop to solve the problems and everything appears to be working for me.

to uninstall ie10 go to add/remove programs, then at the top tick show windows updates, then remove ie10 and ie9 should then be available after a restart.

I recommend chrome whether you are on PC,Mac or linux.

If enabling active x for FT doesn't help, try this.
Click on "page", while on FT, click on compatibility (esp if page symbol appears to have a tear across the middle).
Hope that helps.
