I agree with you about Halloween. I didn't like Dr. Loomis getting killed. There is a movie that not many people know, but I liked. "Curse of the Undead" was a B movie that was a cross between a vampire movie and a cowboy movie. Watch it if you get a chance. Reply #1. Jun 26 12, 4:52 PM |

"Psycho" = when it first came out it scared me terribly! I prefer more realistic/subtle horror flicks - things that can happen as opposed to the B.E.M.s and slasher films. Which is not to say that Godzirra wasn't a classic! Reply #2. Jun 26 12, 6:17 PM |

The best scares come more from the things we can't see than the stuff we can see. Hitchcock understood that. That is why Psycho was so good. Reply #3. Jun 27 12, 1:21 AM |

My favorite horror movie of all time is the original George Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead.” Also “28 Days Later.” Reply #7. Jul 10 12, 1:33 PM |

I agree with Alexis....the movies that scare me the most are those which feature a realistic, psychological terror. Slasher films just don't do it for me. The first movie I remember scaring me "out of my skin" was "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane", starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. I saw this movie when I was 10 years old (even though it was made long before my time, in black & white). Creeped me out years later, too. Reply #8. Jul 11 12, 7:35 PM |

Slashers don't scare me either but I do enjoy them the most. I would have to say that my favorite is either Halloween or Silence of the Lambs. Reply #9. Jul 12 12, 1:17 AM |

The original 1931 version of "Dracula". Nobody played the Count like Bela Lugosi. Reply #11. Aug 02 12, 11:45 AM |

I don't like slasher movies or gorefests. How many teens you can knock off in an hour and a half in how many disgusting ways has never appealed to me. Other than the cheesy giant monster bug movies from the fifties, I think my favorite well-made horror movie is The Exorcist. Scared the pants off me in 1973. Reply #12. Aug 02 12, 12:35 PM |

I don't go for the gory ones either. I like the psychological horrors far better and there's been some great ones over the years. The Woman in Black was terrific and The Pact was another one. Scared me to bits! Reply #14. Aug 04 12, 7:23 AM |

The original "Picture of Dorian Grey" which I was taken to see when I was 7 - had nightmares on top of my other nightmares about wolves or bears chasing me {in NYC!}. The bogey is so much scarier before you see it/him/her. Bette Davis was very frightening in Baby Jane! In a seemingly innocuous way which shielded her dark self. Guilt is a killer. Reply #15. I don't have a favorite horror movie, because I don't like horror movies. I have, however, seen many classics including Carrie, Christine, Psycho, Misery. The one that was the scariest in my opinion was Carrie. Never again will I watch that movie. One and only time I watched it I had nightmares (9th grade). I guess that means it was really really good. In general, though, I avoid horror films at all costs. Reply #16. Aug 31 12, 7:17 PM |

I won't say it's my favorite horror film. There are too many really. "Alien" (1979) Now that is a true 'horror' film wrapped in a sci-fi blanket. Reply #17. Sep 01 12, 6:38 AM |

I can't say it's my "favourite", but the one I found most disturbing was "Hostel". That was truly scary. Reply #19. Jan 04 13, 6:57 AM |

I remember seeing "Alien" in St. Augustine Florida with my family when we were on vacation. My step-brother was curled up on my step-moms lap and my sister had her hands on her ears,,, she did keep her eyes open,,Great scary movie; monster on the loose classic. Reply #20. Jan 17 13, 8:48 PM |
