It's amazing that schools in our day don't teach about dinosaurs and trilobites - dinosaurs occupied Earth for 150 million years, and trilobites ruled the oceans for twice that time. Hard to believe children's imaginations across the globe weren't piqued by these creatures the way my generation was interested... Reply #2. Dec 28 11, 2:40 PM |

I've been studying dinosaurs for the past 24 years and, personally, I think they're the most fascinating animals that have ever existed. As far as I know, all dinosaurs are classed as being reptiles, but not all reptiles that lived at that time are classed as being dinosaurs. For example, there were lizards & crocodiles. There were also marine reptiles & pterosaurs (which some people like to think of as being dinosaurs even though they're not). Reply #3. Dec 30 14, 11:56 PM |

A lot of people don't grasp the sheer diversity of life in the geological record. All kinds of strange and wonderful species appear in a number of eras, including our own. What's more strange than a human? It's thought that dinosaurs (and all reptiles) evolved from amphibians. Modern birds are their descendents. Reply #4. Dec 31 14, 12:45 AM |

When trying to figure out how dinosaurs may have behaved, scientists like to look at the various ways in which modern animals behave. As they say, animal behaviour never changes. Yet, there are some dinosaurs that you see and think, 'There aren't even any modern animals that LOOK like that!' Stegosaurus is a perfect example. There are no animals around today that have spiked tails or big rows of plates along their backs. Reply #5. Feb 17 15, 5:59 PM |
