hey everyone, this is a new story I tried to write. tell me what you think.

Lauren Peterson was 12 years old. She lived with her parents and her sister named Ashley in California. She was hanging out at her best friend, Victoria’s house. “We have so much homework that we won’t even be able to finish it for at least three years,” said Lauren. Victoria replied, “I know! I mean, are the teachers trying to torture us to death or something?” “Well, pretty much until we get past college,” Lauren told her. They started laughing. A couple of hours later, Lauren’s mom called her to come home. When she came home, she saw Ashley look a little sad. She asked her what’s wrong, and her mom told her to come to the other room. Her mom looked a little happy, yet a little sad. “Are you going to tell me what Ashley was looking upset about?” She asked. Her mom replied, “Well, I don’t know how you’re going to react to this, but I got a different job!” Lauren said, “Congratulations? But why was Ashley looking sad for that? I mean, isn’t that good?” Her mom told her that she got a job in France. Lauren was shocked. She had been living in California all her life. She doesn’t want a whole new life all the way in France.

She doesn’t want to start all over, make new friends, and go to a new school. When Victoria found out about this, she didn’t believe it. She asked if it was a joke. “I wish. My mom never jokes. But France is like a million miles away!” She also told Victoria that they are going to move on Thursday. After a few days later, Lauren tried to get her mom out of moving. She tried every single excuse, but nothing seemed to work. She was disappointed. Thursday came sooner than Lauren expected. When her parents were putting their suitcases in the van, she saw Victoria come. They talked as much as they could. Victoria told Lauren to email her every day. A few minutes later, Ashley told Lauren that it was time to go. Almost time for a new life.

Lauren thought that the plane ride was kind of fun. There was a television for each person behind the person sitting in front of them and headphones. She also got her MP3 player, so she listened to that during the boring things. And the food was delicious. When they landed in Paris, they had to wait a while to get their suitcases. Her legs were hurting by standing there. A little while later, they went to their brand new home. It wasn’t as big as the one they had back in California, but she knew she could adjust. It took a couple of days to buy everything. But other than that, it was kind of relaxing for Lauren and Ashley. A few days passed. She had to go to school. When she got there, she was too shy to talk to anyone. But thankfully, two girls came up to her. One of them said,“ Salut. Vous devez être nouvel ici. Je suis Melanie. Et ceci est Claire. Quel est votre nom? Et d'où vous sont?”And all Lauren could say was, “huh?” So the other girl asked, “Is it better to speak in English?” Lauren nodded. The first girl talked in English also. “Sorry. What I meant to say was ‘Hi. You must be new here. I'm Melanie. And this is Claire. What's your name? And where are you from?’” Therefore, Lauren told them about her. They became friends immediately.

Lauren thought that the first day of school went pretty good. But only because she packed her lunch. She couldn’t believe that kids liked eating snails. When she got home, she spotted Ashley. Lauren asked her how her day went and Ashley replied, “there wasn’t anybody that could speak English except for this one girl. But she wasn’t even in my class! So I had to ask the teacher for every little thing. It was embarrassing.” Lauren replied, “hey, don’t fret. Soon, you will learn French even better than the rest of the kids. And there are always kids that don’t know how to speak a certain language. So you’re not alone.” Ashley thanked her and went to her room. They had some really good days from then. Suddenly, Lauren felt gratitude towards her mom for bringing them there.

Three months have passed since the Peterson family moved to France. Lauren and Ashley started picking French up really quick. Every morning, they spoke French. Lauren asked her mom, “Hé maman, quel est pour le petit déjeuner” But her mom told her only to speak French outside or at school. She didn’t want Lauren and Ashley to forget English. So Lauren told her, “Ok. In that case, I asked, ‘Hey mom, what's for breakfast?’” She had tons of friends in France. And during vacations, they visited Victoria back in California. She couldn’t believe that she actually liked moving away from her friends, relatives, and many other things.

Lauren soon turned thirteen. She had the time of her life at her party. Melanie, Claire, and many other kids came. She got a phone call and an e-mail from Victoria wishing her a happy birthday. After the party, she went to bed. She still had school tomorrow. At school, they had a lot of homework. But she knew it was worth it. She got very good in her French and started acing every one of her homework and tests. When she got home, she asked Ashley if she liked the move, and Ashley said, “definitely! I never thought I’d enjoy this place, but it’s amazing. But I still miss California.” “I know how you feel, but we still get to go during summer.” replied Lauren. She hoped she would never have to leave from France.

I really like it! I like the whole French thing. This year one of my elective classes at school is beginning French.

thanks. i got the french stuff off of a website where you can translate it from english to whatever language.
